I'm thinking of making this bag for my self http://web.archive.org/web/20040414170949/http://www.thesmartyarns.com/patterns/May01/knitbag.html but the bag looks like it should be done on the diagonal and its not and when I started it it looks nothing like the picture, it just looks like your normal st st bag nothing fancy, what am I doing wrong?

I started this blanket for my dad last april and planned on giving it to him for his birthday in May, well it was far from done so I gave him what I had done, so for this year I had to have it done, I finished it the day before his birthday, it is made with Simply Soft and a lot of it. It is about 8'x7' by dad is 6'2" so his blankets are never big enough but I think this one is. It weighs about 10 pounds, great for those cold Reno nights. I have a really short attention span so I did it in 12"x12" squares, I have a chart on my blog here http://perfectasillneverbe.blogspot.com/2007/10/my-dads-blanket-chart.html I didn't do the last row and all the squares were done with a k hook, and the border is 2 sides 1.5' wide made with 2 strands of simply soft 1 bright blue and 1 dark blue with a m hook I think and sides 8" wide the same way. I had so many issues with it and I am so happy to be done.

THe crafting is for her and her boyfriend. You be crafting 1 medium and 3 small items for each person so in total you will craft 2 medium and 6 small items or some combination to equal about that much.



All about you:

what kind of crafts can you do: I one of those general crafty people. I sew, I knit, I paint (and decorate things), I spin (although I'm still learning) I refashion things from other things, I felt, I create soaps and lip balms sometimes (when I buy the supplies).

what kind of crafts would you like done for you: Oh anything! Really, I haven't met a craft I didn't like yet! I love the texture of yarn and wool (see pictures of chunky arm warmers below), so knitting, crochet, felting or spinning, anything like that would be perfect. I also love natural textures and colours, so any craft incorporating them!

favorite colors: Deep, rich, earthy colours - Greens, browns, burgundies, dark teal and blue, purples, Indigo too. My Wist may provide inspiration for colours. I've added some links to etsy things that I particularly liked the colours of:

Metalics-wise I like silver, bronze and copper.

likes: I love natural and chunky textures. I'm a bit of an eco-freak and a bit of a festival going bitter drinking hippy type. So yes, natural things, eco-friendly things, organic things. Also things to do with Buddhism, I'm particularly enchanted by Tibetan prayer flags at the moment. I love music, especially English, Irish and Scottish folk music and world music. I just generally love culture, many different cultures (bet I'm sounding really pretentious about now?). I love Indian and 'ethnic' fabrics. I adore jewelery, especially pretty spectacular jewelery... I'm particularly into things that incorporate wool at the moment. I love North African food and tea. In fact I just love tea in general. I love the outdoors and plants. Also maps. Maps are awesome. As are homemade cards (i suppose I should have put that in the 'crafts you would like to receive' section). I also like ecology, peacocks, ale, sash windows and mendi henna patterns. My wist is linked to from my profile!

dislikes: I'm not a massive fan of really bright colours, the over use of plastic or too much Kitsch. I also don't like fruit (apart from to eat) I don't like the smell or the use of fruit imagery. I'm really suffering with the current trend for cherry patterned things!

anything else : I'm about a UK size 16, I have size UK 7 feet, I like my feet to be cosy, I'm apporx. 5 foot ten inches tall and have my ears (several times) and nose pierced.

who they are to you: Andrzej is my boyfriend of three and a bit years. We live together in Oxford.

Favorite colors:Blue and bright yellow (alhough he also wears a lot of dark green, black and dark grey)

likes:Andrzej likes computers (he spends a lot of time on them both at home and at work) especially computer games such as Eve Online (especially this one), Fall out, Civilization, nethack etc. He's just generally a bit geeky, in the good way though. He's very into Linux. He likes reading and listening to music, mainly indie-electro stuff. I'm not entirely sure how you would craft indie-electro but he does like it. Some of his favourite bands are White Rose Movement, Simian Mobile Disco, Chromeo, Justice and Ladytron. He also like meditation and eastern mysticism. Also he likes languages, he speaks several. Most curious are not latin based languages, for instance arabic. Other likes are Cider and chocolate. Andrzej (as you may be able to tell from his name) is of Polish ancestry... so he likes vodka and other polish related things. He loves cats, in a manly way of cause.

dislikes: Andrzej doesn't like tunnels, however that doesn't seem very relevant for a craft swap. Please don't send him a tunnel. Apart from that he would be grateful for what ever he gets! He likes most things.

allergies: He doesn't have any allergies, he sneezes a lot but not in response to anything, he just sneezes. Maybe some handkerchiefs would be a good idea... Just because no one has invented electro handkerchief yet doesn't mean its not a good idea!

anything else: Hmm... other useful information about Andrzej:
He's a size medium in mens shirts, and UK size 11 in shoes and is pprox. 6ft tall. He rides a motorbike.

I'm organizing a swap and one of the swappers had to quit this swap with a good reason, how do i remove the info from her profile?

I have no clue how to slip sttch while knitting and now I'm lost and can't find any site that says how to and I don't know how to Make 1 or know what Pass slipped stitch over means I could use alot of help.
