4  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / top down raglan, increasing arms only? on: December 26, 2007 07:34:57 PM
im doing wicked and was wondering if it would look funny to increase up to a large and increase only the sleeves for a few rounds cuz i have big arms....would this look weird?

is anyone still knitting this??

i just cast the large on and did 132 sts.  i did the first row which is p2 k2 p2 crossover and repeat.  so im ending this first row and the last 6 sts are...

crossover, p2, k2

the row ends

and in the round the first 6 sts i did show up

p2 k2 p2 crossover.

X p2, k2/p2, k2, p2 X

that doesn't follow the pattern, im missing a crossover where the join is to make it right!  (yes i double checked to make sure i did the pattern right)  is it supposed to be like this?

the consensus (from me stalking other drops jackets) seems to be taht the grams....is actually yardage?  even tho it says u need like 14 balls, people knitting a large only seem to need 10.  there are 2 gauge's and the eskimo is the chunky one.  people are subbing laines du nord softlight and rowan yorkshire tweed chunky (which is what i have).  the worsted one seems to be easier to gauge.  i might use all seasons cotton.a LOT of people are using malabrigo for the smaller gauge... im unsure what gauge or size to do because im a size 10ish and i dont know if the chunky is going to be HUGE and incredibly heavy on me cuz its pure wool...not to mention make me look like a tweedy truck.

lastly im editing the pattern (for my ease) and i came across something i didn't understand.  someone (eyeloveit?) maybe wanna take a crack at it?

Knit 2 rows of garter sts, and then 2 rows of Rib with 1 edge st and 2 K sts each side (seen from the RS) see explanation above.

this is under the back piece for the chunky version, which is the first/top one on the page.
