the turquoise cowl:
and my extra goodies:
(my mom laughed at the cuticle cream, because i bite my nails horribly...)
thank you grieney!  Kiss

Glad you liked everything! I wore the knitted cowl you made me today.  Stupid 60 mph winds! What the heck?!?   Shocked Burt's Bees has the best stuff.  Cheesy

I was worried that you would see them before I mailed them because I posted the cowls on ravelry, so I'm glad you were surprised.  Grin

Yay! I can't wait! USPS says it left Baltimore sometime this morning, so I should get it today or tomorrow.

hilarious! The straws for sprinkles was a great idea.  You should get someone else to make a Pillsbury Toaster Strudel costume.  That is a fight I would love to see the end of. Smiley

5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Twirliest Dress, ever! on: October 23, 2008 01:03:25 PM
I made this dress for my bff's daughter, because she's in the twirly stage.

The pattern is named, of course, Twirly Dress.  I got it at JoAnns but you can get it from http://www.sewbaby.com.  It's super easy because all it's just a circle skirt sewn onto a tshirt (genius!).

I miss twirling.  Cheesy

Wow.  I need to get some new crafty unmarried friends and send them an anonymous email with a link to this.  Awesome job!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Broomstick Lace Hat/Scarf (I got published!!) on: October 01, 2008 01:12:29 PM
Awesome!

So, um, I'm about to learn to crochet (actually have a book, yarn, and hook in my bag - meeting my grad school's fiber arts group for lunch Grin), and I'm wondering - how hard is this project? I'm not thinking for my first, obviously, but I've been needing a hooded scarf for a while, so knowing this was somewhere on the horizon would be neat.

This project is easier if you know broomstick lace, but who says you have to put that trim on it? Put whatever trim you want.  Hopefully all the changes to the stitch counts in the hood got in the book.  Besides the lace, it's just dcs so it should be pretty easy.  Once you get the hang of the basic stitches, I say go for it! Welcome to crochet!

So glad you came to the dark side!  Grin  I have zero attention span, so I stick to smaller projects. Awesome job!

The yarn I used was Berroco Peruvia, a single ply aran wool.  The color is even better in person because it has a slight opalesence (sp?) to it.  Very yummy yarn.

My mom hasn't really seen this version yet.  That one is the second one I made.  The first one was made out of Vanna's Choice and didn't drape as well as I wanted.  I'm waiting to get my copy of the book to tell her that it got published.

That's awesome Grieney!!  It rocks!!

Thanks Rox! I should get your daughter to model it instead.  She's way cuter than I am.  Cheesy
