11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Falldown sewing kit on: December 20, 2007 10:59:05 AM
I made this for my stepmom since she loves to embroider.  She has no specific place for her supplies, so I thought this was a good solution for her.  I chose this fabric b/c she loves angels so much.

I'm thinking of adding ribbon trim around the lid.

The ribbon bands are for holding embroidery scissors, needle threader, etc.  The white parts are felt so they can hold pins and needles.
12  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas wreath for coastal living on: November 24, 2007 09:57:06 AM
I made this wreath last night.  I started to go with traditional Christmas colors/theme, but I changed my mind mid-stream.

13  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / A happy accident that became a basket on: November 21, 2007 08:52:51 PM
On my list of Christmas prezzies to make for the fam, I listed a camo beanie for my dad.  At the time I thought, "Oh how bad can Red Heart yarn really be?"

For the love of all that is good and right, this stuff is AWFUL!!!

So then the brainstorm came to make a fleece lining for it, but as I went along, I just couldn't bring myself to let it be a hat.  I was too far along to frog it, so this is the turn it took.

Sorry for the dark-ish pic!  I made a row of dc to run the ribbon thru, sewed a liner, and crocheted a handle for it to turn it into a cute little basket.  I still despise that yarn.

I'll fill it with some treats he loves before I send it to him.

Thoughts?  Comments?
14  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Little upholstery purse on: November 19, 2007 08:08:53 PM
I found several upholstery samples in a thrift store and knew I'd find a use for them eventually.  With all of the other crafts I've been focused on, my inner seamstress was beginning to feel neglected.

Any thoughts or comments are appreciated!
15  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Wrist warmers to match the stripey beanie on: November 19, 2007 07:31:52 PM
DD decided that she wanted a pair of 'em to match the beanie I made last week.  After searching thru patterns, we settled on this one.  This was despite the fact that I'm not that experienced and have never done shells or patterns in crochet.  They turned out a bit more loose than I anticipated, but she didn't want them to be snug.

16  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Striped beanie on: November 16, 2007 01:58:34 PM
DD decided that she wanted a black and white striped beanie, but Hot Topic's price is ridiculous.  I found a pattern, changed the colors, and whipped this up in record time.  It's all dc, except for the last round.

I somehow ended up with what looks like a seam in the back where the rounds start/end.  I'll have to work on that more with future ones.

17  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Itty Bitty Penguin on: November 10, 2007 10:26:10 AM

I used this pattern, Caron Simply Soft yarn (black) and some miscellaneous orange wool yarn from a thrift store.

He's not shaped quite like the pattern.  I think he turned out cute, especially considering what a noob I am at crochet.
18  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Wine Glass Flippy on: October 10, 2007 01:33:18 PM
This is THE quickest project I've ever completed.  Including frogging 3 times, it took me about 2 hours total.  I plan to make a few sets of them for gifts.

19  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / I made a hat! on: October 10, 2007 12:11:47 PM
Not too bad for a first crochet project, I think.  Pattern from gnathalie2.  Tendonitis has kept me from knitting, but the yarn addiction is too strong to not figure out a way around it.  Cheesy So I taught myself to crochet.

Yarn is Plymouth Royal Bamboo.
20  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Are there no other craftsters in Beaufort County? on: September 18, 2007 03:47:58 PM
I see posts for Charleston, Columbia, etc.  There's an old Beaufort thread from over a year ago, and I was wondering if everyone fled the county.  Cheesy

If you're out there, would anyone be interested in some kind of crafting get-together?  Knitting, sewing, paper crafts, anything?
