1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / 4inch Squares Baby Blanket - gingham, spots, solids and teddy bears! on: October 13, 2008 09:35:40 AM
My other half and I just finished this blanket for his soon-to-be-born niece or nephew Smiley

Close up:

We quilted it in the ditch with a yellow leaf-shape stitch I'd never used before. The back's bright yellow too. It was hard to keep it gender neutral but I think overall it worked!
2  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / How to stop chair legs scraping the floor? on: September 06, 2008 08:06:18 AM
Our dining chairs have round metal bits on the bottom (presumably to stop the wooden legs wearing away) but they make an awful scraping sound when you push the chair under the table or get up out of your seat.
I tried sticking circles of self-adhesive felt over the metal but they just came off Undecided Any other ideas?
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Japanese fabric pillows on: August 04, 2008 01:09:11 PM
Just finished these for my other half who has a vintage Vespa scooter. The fabric's half linen, half cotton and was lovely to work with!

Has anyone found a good pattern (store bought or online) for an adult size backpack?
I desperately need to make one for carrying books when cycling Smiley

7  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Swap Craft Supplies on: June 17, 2008 06:53:26 AM
The UK/Europe only supply swap!.. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=252508.msg2811109#msg2811109

Lets face it, it's harder to find craft supplies here than in the US, and we all have stashes of things we'll never use so let's share!
This'd also be a great way to start a new craft as you could request a starter kit with instructions for, say, crochet or ATCs.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Europe/UK Supplies Swap on: June 17, 2008 06:38:03 AM

I've seen the US flat-rate-box supplies swaps and wondered, would UK and/or Europeans be interested in something similar?

I imagine it working like so:

-We fill in a questionnaire about
a) what crafts we do and supplies we could use and
b) what supplies we have to swap.

-I then match up partners based on this info.

-You raid your stash (and possibly thrift stores/charity shops if you want) and sent a package to your partner.

For example, Jen008 has lots of crochet magazines and yarn she wants to swap, and would like to receive fabric for use in baby quilts and supplies for ATCs.
SuperAGirl has lots of papercraft supplies she wants to swap, and would like to receive vintage sewing patterns.
Chrissybella has lots of sewing magazines from the 1960s and 1970s and jewellery findings she wants to swap, and would like to receive a crochet starter kit.

Jen008 would send to Chrissybella, Chrissybella would send to SuperAGirl and SuperAGirl would send to Jen008... and so on.
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / A quilt for ME - classic blues and neutrals on: May 24, 2008 07:57:51 AM
My other half and I (yay I got him into sewing!) made this recently to use up fabric I had in my stash.
We ordered the batting online (Quilters Dream Blend) and it turned out to be really thin so there's not as much padded texture as I'd hoped. Makes it a good weight for the summer though Smiley

The backing is a soft grey colour (cut from a new bedsheet I bought on sale- so much cheaper than buying quilt backing fabric!)
10  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / U.K. AND IRELAND / Overlockers/Sergers on: May 23, 2008 01:50:26 AM
Hullo all just wondering if any UK folk have an overlocker/serger (I gather they're the same thing? Cheesy) and if so where you purchased? Any model recommendations would be great!
