1  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / There's a CUPCAKE on my SHIRT! on: March 16, 2006 11:09:47 PM
i've been practicing stitches for awhile now, usually on left-over fabric or stuff i was going to throw away. so i pretty much just started doing embroidery in the last month or two. i bought some patterns from Jenny and i finally completed my first embroidery project! it didn't take long at all! i had so much fun doing it and i can't wait to make gifts for friends/family!

i'm on this huge embroidery kick now... i feel like embroidering everything!

for this cupcake tshirt, i used:
1.) Sublime Stitching pattern ("Krazy Kitchen")
2.) an iron
3.) old pair of scissors
4.) embroidery thread in brown, pink, and red
5.) green plastic hoop to hold fabric
6.) embroidery needle
7.) white shirt (not pictured)

and here's the results! i whipped this little dessert out in less than 30mins!
that's much faster than what my oven could do  Wink

i was thinking of filling in the "icing" part with French Knots (i think that's what they're called?) with different colors so it would look like sprinkles! but i kind of like the simplicity of it now.

i LOVE anything food-related, so i can't wait to use all of the transfers in the "Krazy Kitchen" patterns on tea towels and more shirts and tanktops (for the spring/summer)!

i even got my dog's paw of approval  Cheesy  haha, cheesy, i know.

the next project i'd like to start on is pillowcases for my boyfriend & i. he's really into pirates and skulls, so i think i'm going to use Jenny's pirate patterns for them and also try embroidering our names on each pillowcase. i'm a little nervous about that, my handwriting is far from "pretty". haha!

anyway, thank you for taking the time to look at this! take care!
2  UNITED STATES / South Carolina / Westminster, SC - Apple Festival on: August 17, 2005 09:10:06 AM
just a heads up, although i should've posted this way earlier. my apologies!  Tongue

a small "Apple Festival" going on in Westminster, SC, from September 8-10. it actually starts on the 5th, but things don't start getting busy until that Thursday on the 8th (or that's how it was last year).

several booths selling crafts, but not many. i'm almost positive that i'll be there selling my own jewelry, but that's if i get everything made in time! i'm a big procrastinator! you can't miss me, i have very bright pink hair!  Cheesy pinch me if you see me.

so if you're around the area, or looking for something a little Southern, check it out. it's very small and not at all like a huge "festival", just warning you. lots of yummy food though, and fun things to look at it.

here's the site for more info & pics of last year:

3  Georgia / Georgia: Central / ATHENS, GA? on: November 22, 2004 12:33:29 AM
anyone live in or close by Athens, Georgia? my boyfriend and i visit Athens a lot because of friends, tattoo shops [we live in south carolina now, but only about an hour and a 1/2 from Athens], and to see several bands who go thru [sound tribe sector 9, anyone?]. we think we'll have enough money to make the move july/aug of 2005.

any suggestions for artsy fartsy places, any craft shops, any cool craft supply stores, etc in Athens, Ga? lemme know.

thanks everyone!  Cheesy
