1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Thanksgiving Mantle on: November 09, 2011 10:14:17 AM
Like most of us here on craftster, I have limited resources, but I also have a large craft stash Wink I just moved into a house with a fireplace, so I'm taking advantage by decorating it for every season/holiday. This is my Thanksgiving mantle!
I made the banner, framed leaf art that I made with my toddler, filled vases with leaves and pine cones that we collected, and stapled an old thanksgiving shirt onto a canvas Smiley For more pics and a tutorial for the banner, my blog is here: http://www.alisonswonderlandblog.blogspot.com
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Discussion and Questions / Please help a noob :) (pic inside) on: February 20, 2011 07:18:47 AM
Hello! I am teaching myself how to crochet, so I am completely new. I thought that I finally had it down, but I'm getting nervous. I'm trying to make a bunny from the Amigurumi Two! book. Here is a picture:

See how it's getting all wavy? Is it supposed to do that, or am I doing something wrong? The instructions were
*Sc 1, 2 sc in next sc* repreat six times. I even have a stitch marker in so I don't know what happened. Thanks in advance for any help!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My Mother's Bridal Shower *Pic Heavy* on: June 03, 2008 09:51:49 AM
My sister's and I threw my Mother a wedding shower, so I thought I'd share some pics, since we did it ourselves Smiley

We got really lucky-we had it in my sister Carrie's mother-in-law's house. Its way nicer than any of ours Smiley

My sister Liz put these favors together. It's hard to see at this angle, but they are green triangular boxes, with a flower holding it together. She filled them with kisses

You can see them betther here- we had alot of extras

Here you can see the photo luminaries I made. I got the idea from Martha Stewart, of course. If anyone wants a tut, lemme know Smiley

My sister Liz made a towel cake

This is the cake Carrie made. Its a flower pot cake, made with fondant, and she baked and decorated cookies on lollipop sticks and stuck them in

Photos of my mom & her fiancee, my grandmas & grandpa, and her fiancee's parents

A closer pic of the cake

Nom Nom-we did it buffet-style. My boyfriend cooked, he's a chef

for favors, we also had personalized candybars like this

and these cool bean seeds, in painted mini pots, like this. I dont have any pics yet of them Sad

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Illuminations sale- and beachy wedding advice? on: January 24, 2008 09:04:00 AM
Just thought I'd pass this along here, while looking for my mom's wedding, I saw this sale-

http://www.illuminations.com/jump.jsp?itemID=20206&itemType=CATEGORY&iMainCat=14&viewall=true

It's candles and whatnot off season, and cheap, up to 75% off!
BTW, my mother is having a beach themed wedding, has anyone ever used polymer clay to look like sand? I was thinking of making like a paperweight with a sand texture, hot glue a seashell to it, and a metal picture holder to the top, for the table numbers. (here is a visual sort of-http://myweddingaccessories.com/productcart/pc/catalog/5340_1119_general.jpg )
6  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Corpse Bride Punkin' on: October 07, 2007 11:11:04 AM
Ok, so I'm not really sure how "crafty" painting a pumpkin is, but I thought I'd share anyway Smiley

here she is with the dvd for comparison:

then I later stuck a tissue on her head, and called it a veil Wink

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My Birthday Cupcake Dress on: August 07, 2007 08:13:50 PM
Sooo, I saw this fabric with cupcakes all over, and I swear it wispered to me to make it into a dress. And yet, i've never really sewed ANYTHING from scratch before, maybe a hem here and there, and a pillow once in textiles by hand. I will admit, there were a few times that I contemplated commiting suicide via sewing machine...but lo and behold, I made an actual wearable dress that I wore all day on my birthday Smiley I'm super proud. This was once a New Look "easy" pattern:

But obviously I changed it a million percent by the time I was finished:

8  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Harry Potter Boots *pic heavy* on: July 23, 2007 05:29:28 PM
So, I didn't want to actually "dress up" for the HP midnight party, but I wanted in on the fun. I had an old pair of boots that I never wear:

and an HP magazine/modge podge, viola!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Men's Shirt recon to Hogwarts Robe *IMG HEAVY* on: July 15, 2007 10:39:22 AM
Ok, so I was inspired by this link-http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=182947.0 but I cheated a little, I used stitch witchery for the hem, and kept the button on top. I hand stitched a hood, and dyed the shirt black. And since my daughter is fab-u-less, we made pink leopard pockets inside for her wans, and some every flavor beans. We also bedazzled to make it look like buttons down the front. I also made her a gray circle skirt, also inspired by this site Smiley

10  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Yummy desserts & Golden snitch earings on: July 10, 2007 04:11:57 PM
First, the golden snitch earings...love them!

Not sure what Im doing with these yet but they're cute!

Pizza Smiley

And some cute stuff from my crafter-in crime daughter Smiley (8 yrs old!)
