2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Thanksgiving / Thanksgiving Mantle on: November 09, 2011 10:14:17 AM
Like most of us here on craftster, I have limited resources, but I also have a large craft stash Wink I just moved into a house with a fireplace, so I'm taking advantage by decorating it for every season/holiday. This is my Thanksgiving mantle!
I made the banner, framed leaf art that I made with my toddler, filled vases with leaves and pine cones that we collected, and stapled an old thanksgiving shirt onto a canvas Smiley For more pics and a tutorial for the banner, my blog is here: http://www.alisonswonderlandblog.blogspot.com

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Harry Potter Recipes Collection on: July 11, 2011 07:34:24 PM

First I made rice krispy treats, and pressed them into a pan (next time I will use a deeper pan, as I has some spillage when I added the toffee)
I then used this recipe for the toffee: (they pour it over plain rice kripies instead of treats)

1/2 cup  margarine or butter
2/3 cup  firmly packed brown sugar
2 cups  Rice Krispies
1/2 cup  semi-sweet chocolate morsels, melted
1/4 cup  toasted, chopped almonds
Why use Kellogg's Rice Krispies?

1. Line bottom and 1-inch up sides of 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan with heavy foil. Set aside.

2. Place margarine and sugar in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat until mixture bubbles, stirring constantly. Continue cooking 30 seconds. Pour into prepared pan, tilting to coat bottom. Carefully and evenly sprinkle with KELLOGG'S RICE KRISPIES cereal.

3. Bake at 375 F for 11 minutes. Cool 5 minutes on wire rack. Drizzle with chocolate and sprinkle with almonds. Let cool in pan on wire rack. Chill in refrigerator until chocolate is hard. Break into bite-size pieces and store in airtight container in refrigerator.

when it cooled off, I broke it into bite sized pieces and put them into a deep pot. I melted chocolate chips in a double boiler and poured it over the pieces and mixed it together. I then let it cool off in the refrigerator, re-broke it up and put them into containers Smiley Hope that makes sense!

I hope people post recipes! Especially Nycalison's Ton Tougne Toffee meets Cockroach Cluster and Baloo with her many treats! Smiley

I made rice krispy treats, pressed them into a cookie sheet, then made toffee and poured it over the treats, and baked it. It spilled into the oven and made a mess, so next time I'll use a deeper pan Wink When it cooled, I broke them into bite sized pieces, melted semi-sweet chocolate chips and coated the pieces (using a deep pot) I let it set in the fridge, and they were pretty delish! I had a fail when I tried to take a short cut the first time using chocolate covered toffee, it tasted good, but didnt stick to the treats, hope that made sense!

So many awesome packages!!!
I'm so jealous or many things, but that Marauders Bag is just wow! I'd love to know how that was done (obviously takes far more talent than i have lol)

Thank you! I'm not a great sewer, so I bought a tote, then stained it with coffee and tea to give it that old yellowy/brown look. Then I used a brown fabric marker to draw on the bag, but I free-handed while looking at a pic that I pulled up on the computer Smiley I was going to first use a pencil, but I don't have much patience lol
