1  Finished project! two-year-old girl's bedroom! (before and after pics!) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: September 21, 2008 08:54:51 PM
Here's our colour palet

From the doorway looking in

From the window looking out (notice the alcove)

The alcove

The closet

Took off all the face plates.  Check out these colors!

The light fixture

The doorknob that we'll be changing.

AFTER!

Entering the room.  Child-sized knobs for hanging her jackets and cardigans, and a new doorknob.

The hidey-hole, which she already adores.  She knows how to get up, but she's having issues getting down.

Elodie loves dragons.  We got her one to store her toys.

The new curtains, which I love.  We got some knobby things to hold them back, too.

Elodie's new bed!  I'm so proud of my big girl for being in a big bed, but she sure looks tiny in it.

The closet.  Elodie has this thing with hiding in closets, so we put a bench in it for her.

The dresser, which is an antique, and the writing on the wall.  Another dragon, her frog prince, which is a pyjama holder, and a pretty lamp.

That's it!  Thanks for looking!

4  Handspun Clapotis! in Spinning: Completed Projects by Kayla_Wte on: August 05, 2008 01:10:31 PM
Yes, folks, I spun this up out of 100% Merino wool and then knit it into a Clapotis.  I'm rather happy with it, although the knitting part was SO boring.  Also, the brooch is a vintage piece out of my grandmother's collection.  More info on my blog!

(cross posted from Knitting because hey, I spun it, too!)

I have a new one!

This is the second of the maple colorway.

Plied Socks (100% superwash wool)
Maple
200 yds
Fingering to light fingering
4 oz

These pictures were taken without flash, so you can see how much lustre there is off this yarn.  there's more details on the finishing technique (microwave finishing) on my blog.

I <3 the cabled yarn!  Wowza!!  Shocked

Here's what I've got this week!!!

The first 4 oz of 24 oz (yikes)
Plied Socks
Light fingering to fingering
Colorway: Maple
Two ply
200 yds (So I'll probably get about 1200 yds out of the whole caboodle)

The second helping of Maple, only one ply spun up so far:

Finally, a friend giften me Merino/Silk batts, 3 oz of them, and I'm spinning them up into a laceweight two-ply.  Should be lovely.

My turn (love straw into gold, by the way!)

These are slightly late, but I wanted to hit Friday, so pardon the crappy lighting.

Yarn: Plied Compliments 100% Silk
Colorway: Mermaid
Yardage: ~125
Weight: Light fingering to lace
Hand dyed and spun by moi.

Just to give an overview, these are two separate yarns.  One is two-ply and the other is navajo.  They go together, though, and they compliment each other.  Smiley
