91  I *Heart* Roy Orbison...and my Grandma in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rockmygypsysoul on: April 28, 2009 08:36:37 AM
So my Grandma passed away in November and I've been trying to come up with an appropriate tribute item.  I settled pretty early on something with Roy Orbison as he was one of my Grandma's favorite singers ever and he's one of mine as well!  Plus, she was in California (whereas I have never lived there), so I finally settled on this song lyric from his song "California Blue" and I set to work, making my 2nd ever stencil, and came up with this...

I know its very simple and I wasnt real pleased with the letters (which is what I get for freehanding without even pencilling it first!) but anyway...

Any helpful suggestions or comments are, as always, much appreciated!

It says "I HAVE TO LISTEN TO MY (picture points to a mp3 player) TO DROWN OUT THE VOICES"
the side then says "THEY TELL ME I STILL LOVE YOU"

It says "I WATCH DWAYNE JOHNSON'S DISNEY MOVIES BECAUSE HE IS USUALLY SHIRTLESS IN THEM!!"

On the back it says "P.S. He didn't take his shirt off in "Race to Witch Mountain" but the Kids Choice Awards made up for that!"

It says "People with no manners upset me!!" (the bubbles with a line through them say "Thank you" and "Please")

96  Jesus Christ Superstar...my first stencil! in Stenciling: Completed Projects by rockmygypsysoul on: April 17, 2009 07:55:57 AM
Okay, so I've stenciled letters from prepurchased stencils and all, but I had never ever actually like, made and cut a stencil myself, much less of a person or picture.  BUT I have been hopelessly in lust with Ted Neeley ever since I was raised on Jesus Christ Superstar.  When I saw JCS a few months ago, there Ted Neeley was in all his glory (sorry for the pun), and my husband says he's never seen me like I was that night.  I can't help it - it's his voice.  It makes me lustful.

SO I've seen those shirts that are like "Jesus is my homeboy" which is amusing to me, partly because I would never use a term like 'homeboy'.  Thus, the idea for the Ted Neeley is my homeboy shirt was born and I finally made myself do, new technique and all, and I'm digging on how it turned out....

the blue matches the blue in the baseball tee i used...

Let me tell you, I had NO idea how much skill it takes to stencil!  I applaud you guys who do it all the time - it's tough and takes patience and dedication (two things I dont usually have) but showing my love of Ted Neeley makes it all worthwhile...

(comments and critiques welcome - I'd love to know how to get better!)

I received my package from Jilltheimpossible today!!!  Its AWESOME!!!

first, we have our very own Harry Potter bag!!

(Hermione's face isnt screwed up on the bag, it was just not even, lol)

and tucked inside - goodies!!!

a seriously Gryffindor necklace....

there was ALSO a timeturner necklace (one produced, not crafted, I imagine) that i could NOT get a decent picture of, but i love!!!

Also, a HP wallet that my husband tried to convince me was clearly intended for HIM  Cheesy

There were also SEVERAL bookmarks that had mysteriously disappeared before I got out my camera (im 100% convinced my hubby has squirreled them away)

AND she even threw in a pilow she said had been given to her before that she thought i might enjoy!...

and LOOK - it clearly shows that I am a Gryffindor!

yay!! thanks so much Jill!

I received from atsuko today!  yay!!!! my first shop purchases!!  check out the actions shots...

my pearl ring...

and my birds and nestlace...

see how happy i am about it?

Please forgive the odd expression - it was a smile, i promise, but somehow came out looking a little scary at that angle!  Cheesy  Also forgive the cleavage - I have to take my own action shots which require hands to go a certain way and the fact is my boobs are big, so they make cleavage pretty freaking easily! lol  And thats my nightgown, I'm not just wearing an odd shirt!  Wink

JoAnn's Eclectic Wonderland is CLOSED
I WILL RETURN, MOST LIKELY, IN JULY (but as always, am down for personal swaps in the meantime - just cant keep up this much right now!)

I am JoAnn, in Tyler, Texas and happy to be here!  I have cats and dogs all taking an extended vacation at their grandparents (while we rent in a place that wouldnt allow pets!)  Therefore, most of what I have has NOT been exposed to pet hair, but if anything in particular has (some of the supplies I think have been), I will mention it.

Custom Shoes...
I've done a few different shoes here on Craftster and you can see some on my profile.  I can do virtually any cartoon character, comic book character, other various drawings (Harry Potter crests, etc.)  Just shoot me a PM *ahead of time* and I can let you know if I can do it and if I can get your shoe size (I currently have sizes 8 and 9 and these run about 1/4-1/2 a size small)!  I can get more easily, but may have to order them, so PM me as soon as you know you'd like some!  These ones here below are just an example…

2 points

Custom red kids shirt, size 10/12
This is for a short sleeved red t-shirt for a child size 10/12.  I have it, but haven’t taken a picture yet, but can do any of the things I mentioned I can do for shoes!

Custom wood tray
This is a smaller-size wood tray I can paint for your with a character, names and dates (like weddings or anniversaries), etc.

Custom Flower Drawer
This can be custom painted with virtually any color you like, with a name on the drawer, etc.  Great for a little girl’s room!

Fully Crafted Items:

2 Point

Owl Picture Frame – Based on A. Henry fabric, this frame is one of my faves and come with glass, although I took it out for the picture!

Cupcake Shirt – Adult size Large and just waiting for a cupcake fan!

1 Point Items:

Button bouquets - These come in a set of 10 stems.  Actual bouquets will vary, but I try to keep them as bright and colorful as possible!

Cherry Blossom Wineglasses

Pink and Green Picture Frame:  This one has a plastic sheet for over the picture (rather than glass).  Its simple and far from perfect, but cute! (The green you see on the white is on the base, which will be covered up by the picture!)

Supplies:

2 Points:

Black fabric – 2 ½ yards of a sturdy black fabric (I am an idiot and genuinely do not know what fabric this is).  It has just a very slight stretch.  (Animal exposed)

Polka dot fabric – Im not sure of the yardage, but probably around 2 or so.   It’s a polyester fabric with a nice silky feel.  (Animal exposed)

Christmas Ornaments – Set of three packages, two ornaments in each and all packages are different from each other and mostly have santas and angels and the like.

100  Mah jongg teacups and saucers in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by rockmygypsysoul on: March 25, 2009 06:03:19 PM
Okay, so I totally did not MAKE these cups or saucers.  The fine people at Mikasa did.

On that note, I work The Salvation Army and we are having one of our big fundraisers next week - a golf tournament and, for the first time this year, a Ladies' Games Day with bridge and Mah Jongg (or Mahjong).  So my boss roped me into doing a little crafting for the auction.  I myself, being a Mah Jongg player figured that would be the best direction to go in.  So I went to our little SA thrift store and picked up some tea cups and saucers and went home with my paint and this is the final (packaged) product...

a few closeups (sorry for the glare and blazing whiteness)

All those markings are Mah Jongg symbols - cracks, bams, dots, dragons, winds, jokers, and flowers

ive painted on a lot of things, but this was actually my first time painting on ceramic and im hoping they go over okay...

any comments or crit would be most welcome!!!

p.s. the reason its a set of 4 cups and saucers is because you play mah jongg as a foursome  Smiley
