Okay I received my AWESOME package from watsonc7 and was so busy finishing up my stuff for her, I hadn't posted yet  Roll Eyes  Embarrassed  BUT prepare to be SUPER jealous!!!

Oh and these may be mildly unsuitable for work (NSFW) - just a bit of language - which I will tag but that usually comes up later than the pics, right?  Anyway...

For reference, these are my sweet things:

And OH how I do so love them!

So Christy made them into hoopla...

And then into mug rugs!!

They're in my kitchen colors but there is NO way these are going to be used as mug rugs - look at that detail!  Those are going up on the wall in our little diningroom!!

And then she ALSO made them into pillows!!  I have lusted after these pillows for so long!  My husband (who likes to ignore things like me needing to finish Christy's package  Roll Eyes) has been on me NON-STOP to whip up some pillow forms and get these on the couch!  Cheesy

Christy spoiled me rotten, obviously did some serious stalking (like the fact that my baby girl has put on weight since we moved and she became depressed   Roll Eyes) and I just am SO EXCITED about everything - it's just perfect!!!  Grin Grin Grin

Love all the last minute Bertie Bott's Bean submission - here's mine!  Cheesy

Class/Challenge:  Bertie Bott's Bean - Pink Grapefruit
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Hospitality on Crack
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: I am embarrassed to admit that I bought this wood pineapple plaque thing at our local Salvation Army Family store sometime back when I worked there as a grant writer (so a minimum of FOUR years ago!) and it's just been sitting, blending into the unending mass of crap that I call my craft room.  So since we are having people over this week (a seriously rare occasion), I decided to redo it (since the pineapple represents hospitality) and finally put it up!  I played around with some different ideas of how I wanted to do it but I love what I ended up doing (even if it took forever)

NOW

It is SO BRIGHT.  I love it.  It's so not like anything else I own  Cheesy

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparition
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Beautiful Like Me
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: In studying the human body, it becomes rapidly evident that we seem to be hung up on certain definitions and standards of attractiveness.  But my mom has the most amazing smile, even though there are wrinkles around it.  My husband has no backside but does have these amazing broad shoulders.  My friend can't get off her baby weight but her laugh calls people like a moth to a flame.  Me?  I'm too heavy, getting gray hairs, and my boobs are halfway down to my feet at 31!  But my eyes sparkle and my husband can't get enough of my thunder thighs and my skin tone lets me wear any makeup or hair color I could possibly want.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: House Pride
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: The Gryffindor/Swarovski Love Child
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: Unfortunately, I lack the skills Luna has mastered and thus have had to create a more subtle show of support for my house than, say, a giant roaring lion head hat.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: House Unity
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Hogwarts House Pride for All!
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: Hogwarts wouldn't be the same without all the other houses!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Quidditch - Choose Your Champion - USA!
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Modern Patriotism
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I love my country but find most red, white, and blue items to be too kitschy or cheesy for me.  This has a more modern twist with the red and aqua and white combination.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Thanks, Dad!
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: Charming Muggles is a challenging task for some of us, especially when it comes to certain Muggles.  For me, my Dad is virtually impossible to charm.  He's a retired high level manager who sees right through bs and who also has little value of art and craft.  He also refuses to take up a hobby.  Because he and my Mom help us out with managing our finances (and they just don't put a lot of store in expensive gifts anyway), I operate on a super tight budget when it comes to their gifts.  Consequently, unending frustration  Tongue

So I painted a wine glass (he does enjoy his wine!) and filled it with Jordan almonds (his favorite).  I don't have the picture of the finished product but I did snap this one of his glass.
Project Picture:

It reads: Dad, I'm sorry you had to deal with spoiled, sarcastic, and ungrateful kids like my siblings.  Love, Your Favorite
I also made him this postcard

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Flying
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Lace Galore!
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I love lace.  I mean, I *love* lace.  LOVE.  But I don't sew so I don't always know what to do with the lace I invariably buy when I come across it.  So last year I took a bunch of lace (and some chiffon-esque material cut in strips) and made a little chandelier.  But alas, some of the lace burned when I changed its structure at Christmas.  So I cut out all the burned bits and used tons of lace I scored in OWS and now have a beautifully filled in lace chandelier!  Plus in our new apartment, there's no dining room light, so zero chance of burning!  Cheesy
Project Picture: (this is just me holding it, we haven't put it up just yet)

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Transfiguration
SPEW: n/a
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Love Trees x 15
Project Page Link (if available): n/a
Brief Description: I carved this lino block last semester but had to do a major printing of them for the SSS and also as gifts for family.  I now have printed 15 of these.
Project Picture:

Okay, I think that's all I've got that I've taken pictures of  Roll Eyes  Heading to finally sleep here - it's 4:30am and I've been up babysitting a sick puppy to make sure he's okay until we take him to the vet in the morning.  Hence, I also apologize for any mistakes made in posting this!

Congrats DragonChilde!!! You should be very proud of yourself!

Onto classwork...

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Alchemy
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Ocean Sunset
Project Page Link (if available): N/A
Brief Description: As a water sign, it can't be a surprise to anyone that this would be my first assignment to turn in!  Water is definitely my favorite element
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Muggle Studies
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  Michelle and Ben (sort of)
Project Page Link (if available): N/A
Brief Description: As it turns out, turning a Muggle photo into something new and magical is, well, exceptionally challenging for some of us.  Instead of sticking with a nice picture of flowers or animals or something I could manage, instead I got too ambitious and thought that perhaps painting a person would be a nice change of pace.

I was wrong.

Some of us are not meant to paint people and I am clearly one of those people.  I think Michelle turned out okay-ish but holy crap Ben was impossible.  I feel embarrassed even posting this but I worked SOOOOOOO LOOOOOOOOOOONG on it (hard to tell, right?!) so I refuse to give up credit for it.

Project Picture:

I know, I know   Undecided Embarrassed Cry

Class/Challenge/House Pride:  Study of Ancient Runes
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name:  A Wealth of Knowledge and Culture
Project Page Link (if available): N/A
Brief Description: I have a very healthy love of learning and as my sociology degree attests, the knowledge of society and thus culture is particularly strong.  Now my husband, a Poli-Sci guy holds that you can't beat Greece and Rome for the birthplace of philosophy and government; I hold that Venice is the modern-day birthplace of knowledge and culture.  You just can't beat Venice during the Enlightenment.

6  Re: CRAFT MY PET FOR ME! (SU June 7-21;SO July 21, 2014) LIMIT 12 PEOPLE in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by rockmygypsysoul on: June 07, 2014 02:15:16 PM
Sent in and also loving the stories and pictures so here goes... Wink  Both our pups were from accidental litters so we got them before they ever made it to the shelter

Burton Guster, usually called Gus or Guster, our chiweenie.  When we got him he was so tiny you could carry him in your hand and in fact my husband would pop him into his jacket pocket sometimes.  He was the runt of the litter

Now he's huge comparatively!  Nine pounds, all of it attitude!  He's deaf and has severe allergies so we give him shots and he is super paranoid.  He loves his Bear and is a total mama's boy.  He kisses me if I blow on him and he sleeps more soundly on me than anywhere else.  He is super resilient and doesn't respond to negative reinforcement AT ALL.  He loves to go outside but will plop down and refuse to move when he gets hot which takes about 90 seconds during a Texas summer.

Annette Bening, called Bening, is my Maltese/poodle/chihuahua mix.  She came to us as a little gray and tan fluffball.  She would sleep in the goofiest poses and actually still does sometimes.  She loves when I sing to her, I think because it's what I did during the 2 hour drive home after I picked her up when we got her.

Now she's a 14 pound, extremely awkward looking but still gorgeous dog.  She's a teenage girl inside and full of sass and is super moody.  She likes to be delicate but is a ruthless scavenger.  Daddy is her favorite except that he won't let her lick him (which mommy allows).  She's an anxious pup and - I swear to heaven - can understand and will respond to full sentences and complex requests.  She's still gorgeous but her legs are too tall for her body and the black and gray stayed where it was while the rest of her just grew blonde.  She looks like a different dog!

Okay so this isn't really all that on-topic  Roll Eyes  BUT I am risking getting beaten with the rules stick in order to say - remember this?

I SOLD it!!!  I'm super excited!  I have sold lots of crafts and whatnot, but this is my first fine art sale!  The fact that it was one of the first 4 oil paintings I did all together is just the icing on the cake!  Cheesy

I just needed to share that!

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Dumbledore's Army - Department of Mysteries
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: For Lara
Brief Description: One of my oldest friends is struggling right now.  Her dad passed away, her mother remarried very quickly, and she was okay with all of that as it was happening.  But he's not close with her mom or her sister and while they were more bonded during that upheaval, now that things have settled down she's left without much support from them.  She's re-entered therapy and was sweet enough to tell me that as she was filling her counselor in on her past she mentioned me several times (in positive ways) and wanted to share with me that she felt I was a supportive and encouraging friend when she wasn't always getting that from the other people in her life.  So I thought something a little pretty might help her remember that she is loved and cared about.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Muggle Studies
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: The Great Paintbrush Cleaning
Brief Description:  Okay, so I am like the laziest painter ever.  Consequently, I don't spend much on brushes since I'm often terrible about keeping them in good condition (though I am getting better at this, I promise!).  Anyway, I started out with this

and FIVE hours later ended up with this
I know they don't all look clean but they are.  I promise.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Alchemy
SPEW: Yes - benefiting our local art scene - http://www.cityoftyler.org/Departments/MainStreet/GalleryMainStreet/6x6@110.aspx
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Chemical Compounds
Brief Description: Sulfur, which plays a critical role in the rebirth of the phoenix, has the power to alter through both oxidation and reduction, particularly to metals although it is a non-metal itself.  This piece started out as an entirely different painting but was going awry.  Much like the phoenix, it was able to become something new again, including silver, copper, and gold which can be triggered by the sulfur, igniting the whole painting.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Just SPEW!
SPEW: Yes - benefiting our local art scene
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Roses
Brief Description: This is an impasto piece that actually had roses underneath and then the large rose on top

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Just SPEW!
SPEW: Yes - benefiting our local art scene
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: A Shock of Gold
Brief Description: Another abstract piece.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: BB - Strawberry
SPEW: N/A
House: Gryffindor!
Project Name: Lace Band
Brief Description: As a very heavy woman, I am particularly conscious about my lower belly.  I have a ridiculous amount of lingerie so I decided to repurpose my strawberry red babydoll to have a little lace belly band.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Charms
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Linocut and Print
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: It takes mastery of different techniques for many charms and I have been working very hard at better developing my linocut prints; the cutting is fine but the printing?  A mess!!  But I worked on better designing for the print process as well as the cut itself and finally found a method of printing that's working for me!
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: DADA
House: Gryffindor!!
Project Name: Zombie Apocalypse Bag
Project Page Link (if available): none
Brief Description: I made this for the Surviving the Walking Dead swap for a fellow craftster with whom I've *never* swapped!  Plus she only lives about two hours away  Shocked  I loved this bag and had been holding onto it for the right use and I thought this was it - long enough to use as a proper messenger bag so you're less likely to lose it, plus lots of pockets for proper storage.  Surviving the zombie apocalypse isn't all fun and games, you know (though I did include some Walking Dead playing cards in there  Wink)
Project Picture:

That's it for now, off to work on my DA project!!  Grin

I've been terrible, terrible, terrible about not posting but now I have finally updated my list for the first time since the end of January.  I think this is almost everything (though I couldn't swear to it).  Full list here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=430313.msg5142918#msg5142918

There are 81 new individual items I just posted on my overall list.  It's been a pretty prolific few months for me! (I know many of you are more prolific than I am but this is definitely very prolific for me!  Wink)

BUT I will just share a couple of my very favorite projects over the past couple of months...
(zombie shoes for the Surviving the Walking Dead swap)
(my niece Alexis and nephew Greyson)
(the clay bits are stamped with letters and say "for shallow seas i won't betray my ocean")
("The Stoic Dalmatian" oil painting)
("The Unimpressed Ostrich" soft pastel)
("Preservation: Peacock" oil painting)
