8.75% Sales tax? You must be in New England...NH or MA?

MA sales tax is 6.25% (increased from 5% last year, boo!). As Muddy21 noted, NH doesn't have sales tax. I live north of Boston, and lots of people drive up to NH for large purchases to avoid paying tax. Ye old Yankee thrift at work.  I think the gas you waste getting there more than makes up for the tax savings.

I also say, thrift away! You find the best stuff there! And of course the flea market, too.

I can sew at a beginner level, and advanced beginner if I really want something bad enough. (Case in point, I made this riding coat http://flic.kr/p/7ackCD for my husband a few years ago. Tore my hair out in the process, but I did it!) Crochet and knitting are my strongest crafts. I'm relatively new to jewelry making, but I'm really enjoying myself with that. I can also draw and paint.

Great quiz!
I am The Aristocrat
79% Elegant, 55% Technological, 53% Historical, 32% Adventurous and 3% Playful!
You are the Aristocrat, the embodiment of steampunk elegance and poise.  For you, dressing steampunk is first and foremost about simply looking good, with accessories and details to follow.  However, this does not mean that you ignore the demands of creating a steampunk look. Your outfits weave together a balance between technology and style, and between period accuracy and beautiful anachronism.  While your fashion inspiration may come from anywhere across the Victorian social spectrum, you always find a way to make your outfit beautiful.  You will probably be found in the clothes of the steam age elite simply because of the greater elegance available to them.  Chances are you dress this way because you like it, and you would still dress in this manner even if steampunk was not a popular interest.

I also forgot Myst, but I do have and love Arcanum.  I got a new computer and it won't play it... it makes me so sad!  (Then again, that machine is so buggy, it will hardly do anything.  I really need to get it looked at.)

Has anyone played Clockwords?  http://clockwords.us/  It's a word-making game but it has a very steampunk feel.  And for some reason, Tales of Symphonia sticks in my mind as a game with a bit of steampunk in it, but maybe I'm making that up.

Syberia is a beautiful steampunk PC game. It's a point and click adventure game in the vein of Myst. There's also a sequel! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syberia

I'll have to check out Clockwords, I love word games.

The gallery is looking awesome!

Sweetyetevil - the fairy charm you made for ceemonster is so sweet!
Loopylamb - love your square charm to ceemonster, was it resin?

I posted the one I made to keep, anyone else doing that yet?

The square charm I made for ceemonster is a premade square charm that you're supposed to put a picture into with a copper wire wrapped piece from an old computer and a watch part glued onto it.

But My mom just made me realize how expensive shipping is going to be.. because the smallest bubble wrap packages I could find are actually HUGE... compared to the little charms Sad & I already wrote all over them so theres no saving and using them later! Oh well.

I used 5"x8" padded mailing envelopes, and with DC charge included, shipping was $2.36 for each. So a total of $13.99. Goodmorningstarshine's estimate for shipping on the first page of the swap thread was $12.72. So, if you went by that estimate, you won't be too far off. I don't think the size of the envelope matters so much as the weight.
