They're beautiful! But I was wondering, how exactly do you spin from batts like that? I've only really spun from combed top or balls of roving.

Here's my spinning for this week.





This is about 90 yards of worsted wool. I got the ball of roving for Mill End Yarn in Eaton Rapids, MI. It's a really deep red/burgundy with a tiny bit of almost black bits which only showed up once I started spinning it. I love it.

This is BFL top from Hello Yarn. I've got about eight ounces and I've been spinning it for socks. Just a single. The yarn in the photo came out to about 300 yards. I'm fairly new at spinning and I'm starting to realize how much roving makes a certain number of yards, which is coming in very handy.

That colorful braid looks so delicious. Omg, I want it. =]

I think it's impressive that you learned to spin on a wheel first. It was hard enough to treadle consistently for me, and I knew how to draft from spindle spinning, so that helped. I think I would have gotten too frustrated trying to learn how to draft on a wheel first. Go you!

Yep, Alaska. I'm going with a big group. six or seven groups of ten. I've thought about taking my spindle with me on the plane, but I'm not sure it'd be allowed. Nine days with out spinning or knitting...Ugh, it's gonna be hard, but worth it. =]

I meant to post yesterday, but I got side-tracked while packing for Alaska.
This is some Hello Yarn BFL top in "Very Cherry". I spindle spun it because I wanted to be able to spin in school during the last week of nothingness. I'm planning on knitting socks with it. There should be about 172 yards there. I'm working on a second skein right now.
