21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: ATC and Book Swap - Round 3 on: August 21, 2007 03:25:16 PM
I think she made hers with some mod podge and glitter. Tongue

That made me laugh out loud.

I just sent in my PM to goatgoddess - this should be a really fun swap!

No problemo!  Smiley

OMG.  That Monopoly keychain is totally Schrodinger's Cat-esque... was that the intention or was it an awesome accident?

It is! I mentioned that to my boyfriend and roommate while crafting it, but neither one got it...I tried to explain it, but it's such a weird concept that I don't think I did it justice.

Any news on receipt of items?

I received on Wednesday, August 1st and sent a PM to you and gala_apples (I didn't save a copy in my outbox, though, so I'm not sure if it went through) and I posted right after.

Thanks for organizing this - it was a lot of fun to get into!

Oh, hahhahah! The bracelet is made from a towel, and the tiny silver piece sewed to it near the snaps has "VITAMIN" etched on it....it was my attempt at a HHGTTG towel, with symbolic vitamins in case you're ever somewhere without adequate sustenance! har!

glad you liked!  Grin

I've received from gala_apples - here's my loot!

I love silly web comics, and this stenciled shirt is a fantastic representation of i can has cheezburger, which I spend way too much time on during work! My coworker got a kick out of the stenciled shirt, too, because she'll get emails with pictures from that site from me and her husband all the time.

These three pairs of cute earrings were accompanied by a note with factoids about other things I geek out about:

Candy earrings because I love the show Unwrapped on the Food Network, where they show how all kinds of food and candy are created. (I don't know what it is about watching the assembly lines and machines, but it's so interesting! Always reminds me of the Crayola crayons clip from Sesame Street...an integral part of my childhood.)

Letter block earrings since I'm a design & typography nerd (I took the typography aspect to the extreme for my Tiara Challenge entry).

And fish earrings to wear while I watch Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel! Very appropriate for Shark Week, I might add...  Grin

Thanks so much! My first swap was fun.

AH! Gala, I'm so glad you liked it - I definitely had swap anxiety (especially since this was my first time). Whew.

Later when you have time, I'd love to hear any feedback you have on the pieces (and anyone else on here, too, once pictures are up), so I can fix anything next time I swap.

Fluffybaka - The MacGyver Survival Kit is hilarious! What a neat idea...
28  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Attaching curtains? on: July 10, 2007 09:26:30 AM
If you can't find a shower curtain rod that will fit, there are also heavy drape rods with the window dressing stuff in stores that open up pretty far and are very sturdy. Also, if you're near an IKEA, or are ok with shopping online, I've seen people get curtain stringing supplies there, I think.

For the amount of fabric, I'm not super-sure, but estimating from the sizes of the containers you have, I'd say about 14" for some extra folds when it's closed.

30  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Re: Anyone else having a seizure???? on: July 06, 2007 09:48:06 AM
I just saw this post ... but it's a few days old. I might be able to help with your seizures. If you have a particularly flashy ad or avatar on a page, you can always hit the ESC button. It freezes animations. (Even the animation in the little marquee button here on the post reply page.)

Thought you might like the tip. It helps me sometimes.

That is a sweet tip! Since I sit in front of the computer all day long, I thought I had most keyboard commands down pretty well, but I'm definitely going to put that into my repetoire. Thanks!
