1  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help needed - soap made with caustic soda on: March 22, 2011 12:44:51 PM
Thanks for the info MareMare Smiley as long as the soaps can be used then I'm ok with this. Might have to buy myself a replacement novelty ice cube tray though, squares are so dull Wink

Another question: as I have used the tray for raw soap, if I were to use the tray for simple melt and pour soap, would you recommend waiting a while to use the resulting soaps?

Smittenheart, the pacmans [pacmen?] were originally off-white (with teensy bit of other colours mixed in), they look a bit like neon cheeses now (if that makes any sense). The tray was a present from a small UK shop, but they're available on amazon, and probably elsewhere for cheaper if you shop around

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Help needed - soap made with caustic soda on: March 21, 2011 07:25:54 AM
Hallo!

Not been on these boards in a few years ( sorry  Embarrassed ) so if a question like this has been asked already, I had searched but didn't find anything quite relevant

Basically, I made soap with caustic soda about 5/ 6 weeks ago, some of the soap I poured into plastic containers and popped it out after it had solidified, but some I had poured into a silicon ice cube tray, and had left the soap in the tray up until now.

The colour of the tray seems to have transferred to the soaps... I'm just wondering, firstly can the soaps be used, or should I have taken them from the tray earlier to let them air? in which case would waiting another 4 weeks or so make them ok to use? Secondly, d'ya reckon the tray will be ok to use for ice cubes again after a quick scrub?

Thanks for anyone who can help me here  Kiss

The off white block to the left is the colour of the original mix

Edit: Sorry, this shouldn't be in completed projects, don't know if it's pos to move the thread?

Also, the picture doesn't quite get the colours right. The pac man soaps are neon yellow, like highlighter colour. I dissected one in half, the yellow goes through most of the soap, with only a small patch in the middle the original colour
