1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Bridal Shower with no games?? on: March 15, 2008 06:52:39 AM
Hi, I haven't read all the posts, so sorry if I am repeating myself.

I hate the games too! What I have asked my friends to do instead is come up with non-cheese ways to give away gifts. I mean there have to be gifts. There will be about 10 gifts to give out, and they will do something like hiding tokens or whatever under a few plates, or under chairs, and then whoever finds it, get to choose a gift. Also maybe have a notepad handy, so taht the guests can write their name along with sme "marridge advice" and then do a draw. These advices you can use in scrapbooking too later on. Bridal showers are meant to be cheesy, so whatever you do will be great:).

I love the idea of a cake for a centerpiece. Honestly, I couln't choose between the two.  Maybe have a few different styles of the cake holders and use them.  I would also suggest you find some fake leafs (usually dollars stores have them, or somewhere online) and scatter a few leafs around the cakes. Just to make it pop out more. I am doing fairly small centeropieces too,a nd have to scatter some rose pettals, otherwise there is no "pop" to it whenyou walk into the hal.  Whatever you decide willlook lvely. Hmmmmm cake! Now I want some:).

Maybe one of those halloween pumpkin baskets minus the scary face on them, and instead of petals, leaves in them?  The possibilities are endless.  You can even have them carry plain baskets with petals in the fall colours (orange, brown..)

I am also in need of long whote (ostrich) feathers.  If you find any cheap, or are willing to re-sell yours please let me know.

I love this site, http://homokaasu.org/rasterbator/, you can upload your pictures, monograms, etc, and it blows it up for you, then you print off like 16 or more pages and tape them together on the wall.  you can make a little "museum" of your and hubby's pictures together and when you were kids etc.  Just check out some samples that they have.  Its cheap, and takes up a lot of space on the bland walls.  i also agree with the more candles the better, maybe you can even stock on on cheap christmas lights.

I love designing invitations.  Here is what I would do:

Buy invitations like this: http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=wd0056&channelid=

On the backside print a flower, like this (but in your colour obviously): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Hydrangea_redoute.JPG

and have the invitation part printed on the front, but find a nicer font/or something like a monogram of your names.  You can even buy inexpensive ribbon in your colour and replacethe white (usually they all come with white ribbon).  I hope you know what I mean.  You can also use the image from the first invitation that you posed, but print it on the back, because the vellium will make it appear lighter, and just space out the lettering over the whole page.

If you don't like the vellium idea (personally I hate printing on it, the letters always smudge, but that can be due to my cheap printer) then just make the picture "washed out" and place it in the background.

If you like my idea, but want more "proof", pm or email me, I can show you better than explaining it:).

I vote just white and silver. Very elegant, winter-wonderland-y and simple.
