Making wedding party gifts for a friend's wedding so it would be great if they matched.
Something like the photo sans unicorn etching.... basically brass and glass, all clear, maybe a little smaller than a tissue box, rectangular.... not too demanding this bride Smiley

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Discussion and Questions / graduated, faceted rondelles, maybe quartz. chalcedony? on: September 03, 2008 09:49:53 AM
I need help. My friend has a very specific necklace design that I would like to make for her wedding-- and I have been looking everywhere for a strand of graduated, faceted chunky colorful gemstone beads to make it for her. I have looked on etsy, ebay, googled, etc. It can be quartz, chalcedony, anything with a color that really pops. The only other place I have found this sort of thing is at a trade show. Does anyone know of a secret supplier? I know they exist, there are necklaces on etsy with the exact sort of thing I am looking for.....
Thanks!
4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Using bead caps/filigree pieces with non-round beads? on: July 27, 2008 07:59:05 PM
Hi- so I have some beads that are rough cut carnelian. They are kind of rounded discs, and the holes are really jagged and ugly where they are drilled. So I thought i would spruce them up and got some "filigree" bead caps-- meaning pieces that are flower or leaf shaped that are flat that I thought I could bend down so that they sit pretty flush to the bead. I was wondering if anyone has any words of advice-- I know people use filigree pieces to wrap stones and cabs, and I am not having much luck with mine. They either look crappy and not bent right or I don't get them to bend flush to the bead. I was just wondering if there is a technique or tactic for more successful.. filigree.. bending.
Thanks!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Do you feel lucky, punk? Resin pistol necklace on: June 30, 2008 01:33:13 PM
OKay, so I don't really know if this is a pistol, a revolver or what. But it is a shabang necklace. I made the first one at a craft sale and traded it away immediately with Snew- another lovely resin artist. Hers was pink with a teeny white pearl. I am going to be making more of these.....

comments and suggestions welcome!
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Plethora of Pendants in resin.. on: May 06, 2008 02:18:33 PM
I had a bunch of resin pendants left over from the craft sales I was in last weekend, and finally had a minute to take some pictures! A PLETHORA!
Some are ephemera images, some are vintage charms...

7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / More new resin pendants- raccoons, ribbons, rings and um. rother stuff. on: April 19, 2008 10:25:30 AM
Here are a bunch of new resin pendants I am working on-- I have so many made for this season's craft fairs, it is ridiculous. The stands keep falling over because I have SO MANY.

Vintage plastic raccoon with a tiny plastic mushroom. He looks kind of melancholy.

cheetah head against some lovely origami paper.

I LOVE this image-- I have some huge earrings I made with it. Love it love it.

the philosopher pendant- for some reason I love this picture.

and new rings I am working on-- SUPER SHINY. I have another one with a picture of a purple and blue beta fish, and it is AMAZING.

And i forgot the ribbon! the crux of my titular alliteration!
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / My Heart Will Find Its Own Way, Resin Pendant on: April 17, 2008 01:29:28 PM
This is a new favorite of mine-- glitter resin heart with a real tiny functioning compass inside. Orienteer your way to your heart's desire....
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / T-Rex, EXIT STAGE RIGHT on: April 10, 2008 07:25:12 AM
I have been making ridiculous resin things with tiny plastic other things imbedded for quite some time now, but I was trying to keep everything elegant and not.... ridiculous. Well, lets embrace it.
This is my favorite, most ridiculous new pendant.
This guy is the latter half of a plastic dinosaur, emerging from the plastic underbrush....

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / New take on the Initial necklace-- ASL on: April 10, 2008 07:14:06 AM
This is my new genius idea-- lots of initial necklaces out there, and I thought it would be amazingly great to make an initial necklace featuring an image of the  American Sign Language sign for your first initial. My name is Nicole, so the N pendant is the one I wear around. The imgaes of the signs are from an informational sheet that deaf/mute people sell to raise money-- I bought mine in San Francisco a couple of years ago. The sheet is highly photocopied, giving it a really noisy image-- which I love, and decided to keep for the most part.
