ok... here's the best thing i ever made for my boyfriend!
i made him a book. i had read that short story by haruki murakami, "on seeing the 100 % perfect girl one beautiful april morning", which is romantic and sad and funny all at the same time. and i wanted to share this with my boyfriend. as i have had a calligraphy course at uni, i knew what i wanted to do!
i bought some nice cardboard, off-white/beige for the inner pages, brown for the cover and dark red for the inside cover (forgot what that's called). i wrote the story in dark red ink with a 1.5 mm tip in uncial writing, with the first letter on every page in fracture font, 2 mm tip and blue ink.
it took me ages to do it; cutting the cardboard, measuring the pages, to figure out how big the writing needed to be, the writing itself! that was about an hour per page. but after it was all done and bound, i was so proud of it, and my boyfriend really loved it and said that was the best present he ever got
so all the effort was really worth it!
