81  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Ribbed Ear Flap Hat w/ Pom Poms! on: December 27, 2006 02:15:03 PM
This is a great hat and so easy to do.  I made a couple of them for Christmas gifts out of chunky yarn and they turned out great.  They were for my 14 year old daughter and 13 year old step daughter.  I did them like the white one without the ear flaps and pom pom and they loved them.  My 11 year old nephew has requested one and I have some more yarn like I used for my daughters.  I'm afraid though that if I make it like the others it will be to big for his head.  Any suggestions on how to size it down a bit?

Those are so cool.  I'm making a pair for my daughter for Christmas but will be adding the mitten part.  My husband even likes them and wants a pair like yours with the thumb top off and no mitten.  I have a question though about the palm part of the pattern.  I'm having a real problem figuring it out.  It's not making any sense with adding at the base of the finger, sc in next 12 sc and then ss to the first sc of this RND which is the RND where you divided for the thumb, ch 1, turn. (13 sc).  I'm not getting this with the ss to the first sc of this rnd.  Where's the other half of the rnd?  When I follow this and try to do the slip stitch it pinches it shut?  What am I missing?  I need help in a hurry or I'm not going to get these done.  Figured I could just do what makes sense to me and just go completely around before joining with a ss.  Can't imagine it would mess up the rest.  HELP!

These are great!  My daughter wants a pair and I thought I would make them for her for Christmas.  She wants the mitten flap over them though.  What pattern did you use for these?  You said you didn't add the mitten part.

I know I'm a bit late posting for this but I was going to try to make one of these for my car.  I can't see the picture on the post so can I get the link to the other site?
