2081  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: William Shakespeare Swap Gallery on: March 29, 2008 07:50:45 PM

However, I must cringe at the West Side Story/R+J book!  That's the same one we had to read in 9th grade!  Sad
Okay, here's a better comparison for you-Gilligan's Island and the tempest-"the weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed..."Any better?
Anybody here remember when they really did a musical version of Shakespeare on Gilligan? I can still sing that!
2082  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Bangles, Bangles, Bangles - ( or AAARGH, Craft Shows are Coming!!!) on: March 29, 2008 07:04:02 PM
I love your bangles, and your steampunk pieces, and, well, all of them!

I think it's been decided-while Sweets4ever is the supreme high priestess of all things melted, Ammasmama is the Queen of Resin.
All hail!
2083  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ye Neighbour's Olde-Fashioned Exercise Bike on: March 29, 2008 06:33:39 PM
Maybe a coat of paint in a fun color? I like it as it is. Just for fun, go to the bike dept. and get stuff like the streamers for handlebars,a bell, basket ect. Grin
2084  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Much Ado About Old CD's on: March 29, 2008 06:26:14 PM
There's a big thread on this on the recycle board, the what can I do with this page.

2085  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fabric, CD's, and Magazines...IDEAS?? (FOR APARTMENT) on: March 29, 2008 06:23:05 PM
Make pillows for couch, chair, floor. Maybe cover/trim a lampshade in some of the fabric. make magazine bowls. I've seen a tissue box made of 4 cds glued together in a square, plus one on top-and a bit cut out of the one on top, so you could pull tissues through it. Just plop the whole thing over a box of tissue. You could buy cheap picture frames from dollar general or goodwill in black or white, or paint them. Any good art,fun ads, ect. in the mags worthy of framing?Or decoupage a small table or something? I like thrifting for cheap furniture to paint or glue paper on.make cd coasters.Make a notebook or small photo album, use cds for front & back, plain paper inside. Scavenge free advertising magnets from friends, ect. Cut out pics from mags, glue on magnets, cut anyway you like.Glue 2 or 3 freebie magnets together if you have enough, to make one stong enough to hold stuff.I glued about 3 to the back of a decorated altoid tin, and filled the altoid tin with magnetic poetry words I made. Stuck to the fridge just fine.
Good luck, and congrats on your first apartment1
2086  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Weird places to put supplies on: March 29, 2008 05:37:41 PM
I craft in this little half room area, stacked with boxes-can't get to the closet there now-,a desk, bookshelves, and assorted junk.I have no place to sit, but I do have a couple of trays to work on,on top of stacked boxes. What's odd is that I have about half a dozen glues, and as many bottles of paint on the bookshelf. In front of the rows of books. Am slowly destashing the house, so I can turn this little space into a real craft area.
2087  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Re: RESIN on: March 29, 2008 05:17:19 PM
Has anyone here had any luck using plastic packaging as molds? Some of it comes in intriguing shapes. I'll be using envirotex lite, and I bought some mold release. Thanks!
2088  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Science IS Art Swap! (Sign-ups 3/24 - 4/7, Sendouts by 5/7) on: March 29, 2008 05:07:30 PM
It is a small project from "evilmadscientist", and no, it is not the LED lego guy.
I also got out some very old McCalls Needlework and Crafts mags and found some amusing projects themed on atoms and space travel.
Can't wait to get my partner assigned!

I'm so jealous of your old mags with space/atom projects!  May I pick your brain after the swap? And I'd forgotten about "evilmadscientist"-I think I'm going to have to visit for inspiration. The instructables site is also fun for that. But then I have to worry about spending too much time online, and not enough crafting!

2089  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Fairytales, Fairies & Folklore swap, sign ups 16th Feb-8th March, send 12th A on: March 29, 2008 04:57:06 PM
I'm so glad we've got until the 12th! My large is giving me fits. Hopefully I can craft like mad this monday. "barking mad"-I love that phrase. It describes my mom and her 2 sisters to a t!( BTW, Sulkycat, glad you had such a nice visit. )I think I'll be barking mad before I finish crafting!
I made a ------- for the first time, and I'm a little nervous about it. Also made my second attempt at a -------, and I love it, even if it is a little rough around the edges, so to speak. And I've been putting off attaching the ----- to the ------. Sorry, don't know if elywnceltic's reading this thread or not!  Grin
This is such a great group, and kudos to our lovely organizer. I certainly hope to craft with her and the rest of this group again sometime. Or, to use a colloquialism, "y'all come back now,y'here?"
(and, yes, we do say y'all in these here parts)
