I once made a shelf with old cd's-it looked cool, but I was sloppy making it. It didn't hold up well. They'd make a nice background, though. So would sheets of old circuit board. Or-line your shelf with black or dark blue cloth or paper,paint/glue on stars, hang the ornaments in front of it with fishing line.Or run a string of white xmas lights behind it,punch holes for the lightbulbs,it's stars.Or a star trek mobile? Go to a discount store, buy a really cheap shelf, buy a roll of shiny silver wrapping paper to cover it? Or look at the shelf liner/contact paper,I bought a white and black marble look paper once that covered the top of a white painted desk.Look in sections you normally wouldn't,like kitchen, closet, bath.Sometimes you see something, and another use for it hits you.Go to goodwill,or another thrift shop- you can luck into amazing things.Good luck.

YKYACW the insides of your pockets are getting nasty because you can't resist picking up little rusty things. I am so going to make jewelry...one of these days. And I look funny with my pocket bulging until I can find a bag.But-"Oh! There's another piece over there!"
YKYACW you buy7 or 8 rolls of crochet string for a quarter each ...and you can barely do a chain stitch.

YKYACW you go to goodwill to look for more fall clothes, and an hour and a half later,it's time to meet my DH,I've spent 45 dollars, and haven't even LOOKED at clothes! Boatloads of yarn,(some wool),lots of crochet thread,a boxed set of glass beads and jewelry findings, jewelry to reconstruct,a beautiful big framed art piece(can't decide if daughter gets it or me-it was a quarter of my total by itself)beautiful shadowbox, book with cool images, lovely glass jar I have plans for, demitasse cup & saucer for a swap, and several pages of marvel comic heros trading cards in plastic sleeves I'm seriously thinking of making playing card notebooks with. But no clothes:)

I WAS going to take 5 bags of clothes to Goodwill tomorrow-now I have to dump them out and pull out a sweater to make books with. I love all the things brainy craftsters come up with.

Time for me to be an old curmudgeon. I just read an article yesterday about crocs-apparently most foot injuries on escalators now have been kids wearing crocs. The soft soles get caught, especially if they stand near the side of the steps, and in the teeth at the top and bottom.Injuries range from bad cuts to nails ripped off to a toe ripped off! Some malls catering to children-like the American Girl one in Chicago(?) have posted warning signs next to the escalators suggesting using the elevator if you're wearing crocs or flip flops.Sorry! Yes, my daughter has a pair of cheap croc lookalikes-I think it's the shoe jewelry that makes the kids love them so much.
All that being said,I love your garden clog shoes! They're gorgeous, and fun,and I want a pair!
