83  Triple Moon in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by bookstorebabe on: November 14, 2013 05:09:56 PM
A piece of cherry cabinet from the Habitat Restore, almost all my broken chains,a few beads, a broken compact, a small mirror from the candle section at Dollar Tree, a few charms and odd earrings, and iridescent glass tiles from the craft store. The dragonfly is from some clearanced metal garden decor, that I painted.

detail shots

The tiles are very iridescent in real life.

Little frog

I'll go over it again and fill in a couple of places a bit more. But I'm pretty happy with how it came out.
EDIT-putting a link to my inspiration here in the top post, I forgot to do that when I originally posted! I don't know her,but this artist makes cool stuff. https://www.etsy.com/shop/TUTreasures?ref=l2-shopheader-name

85  Leaf Box in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: November 01, 2013 12:24:22 PM
Started as a battered wooden bible box from the thrift store.

The sides have a daubed on layer of black screenprinting ink, and then some antique gold rub n'buff. Screenprinting ink takes a few days to dry, but it's just perfec for some things.

The inside is scrapbook paper, flocked ribbon, and a little more gold rub and buff.

Leaf close up.

Real leaves, foil, rub n' buff, spray paint, three shades of luminere acrylic paint, and glaze. And old gift cards. ^^

87  Steampunkish butterfly mirror. in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bookstorebabe on: October 31, 2013 07:46:39 PM
Steampunkish butterfly mirror. A ceiling medallion I painted, a few rows of chain, a Dollar Tree mirror, and a butterfly. The butterfly was from some brightly colored metal garden decor vastly marked down at Dollar general.I painted it and added a few red glass beads. Just needs a hanger.

89  A couple of raygun shadowboxes in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: October 26, 2013 01:29:28 PM
I needed a break from making mirrors, so whipped up a couple of these.  Grin I love buying cheap shadowboxes at the thrift store to take apart!

Can't really see any detail here, but there's metal bits added for a trigger, a metal cap on the nozzle, and a green brad at the end. Silver, white, and purple paint on a tiny water pistol from a pack of party favors, scrapbook paper, and a thrift store frame, and the word 'Imagine'. Most of my shadowboxes are 'in case of airship pirates/space pirates break glass, but I wanted to make a few different ones.

Second shadowbox! An old earring, a tiny key, a copper coil, the green bulb is from electronic innards, a disc, a pointy bit of plastic. Scrapbook paper and thrift store frame. The label-printed, cutout, glued on cardboard, wrapped in some twisted thin yarn from a tassel. The green leaves? From a sheet of temporary tattoos.

90  Something simple in Beads: Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: October 26, 2013 01:17:03 PM
I bought a humongous pair of hoop earrings just for the pretty iridescent beads. Took them apart, strung them on a thin gold chain.
