21  So I have a few hundred HeroClix figurines... in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: May 05, 2014 08:04:55 PM
Well, MrBookstorebabe does. And since we're selling them all for 50 cents each at a comic book event, I felt free to use them as a craft supply.
(HeroClix are small plastic figurines of comic book characters-you can play a game with them, or just collect your favorites. MrB used to work at a comic book store. 'Nuff said.)
So far I have one box with Leonard Fisk, the Kingpin of Crime. And then I made a few shadowbox magnets with odd little jewelry gift boxes.
I used ones where the bases were missing or broken,or ones we had multiples of.
Daredevil and Electra

Big Barda

StarFire, dunno, Moonstone/Meteorite,Fury, IronMan, HobGoblin.

Forbush Man!

The Kingpin! The comics are from a back cover calendar, and every editor/writer/ect's birthday, they have him  saying stuff like 'Mmm, cake!' 'Mmm,ice cream!" Ect. The sides of the box have more of the same.

Excelsior!

23  Doorway to the Stars shrine in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by bookstorebabe on: May 01, 2014 07:30:22 PM
Hmm..doorway to space, or doorway to the stars? The second of my two cdrom/disc drive/whatever metal boxes, disassembled and embellished. A picture of the northern lights from an old calendar, shootingstars were an odd earring, a metal corner plate under the image pointing up, rhinestones, odd earring and found metal triangle on top, odd screws, washers, beads, two filigree earring dangles at the top ofthe door, bolts, capacitors, button, random broken plastic and metal pieces, shiny sequin stars, nail glitter, sealer, ect ect.  I first spray painted the box black, them immediately sprayed a light mist of silver for the background.

24  For Granny's Airship kitchen in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: May 01, 2014 07:12:37 PM
For Granny's kitchen on the airship. Okay, you and I both know that it's called a galley. But no one argues with Granny. Why, they insisted she take some rayguns in case of being boarded by pirates, dontcha know. She replied with a 'hmmp. The day my soup ladle isn't enough is the day I hang up my apron!' Well, she keeps them in the kitchen, like the captain wanted. But since the captain didn't specify where in the kitchen they have to be...they're on the wall.
One says 'Bless this Airship", the other one "Home Sweet Home". Old fashioned roses and gears by the mottos.

I loved all the different flowers! They would be so pretty sewn on a blouse, or as pins, or on hair things, or...anything!
Did more stuff.

26  Circuit Board suncatchers in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: April 20, 2014 08:30:28 PM
Found this idea online, wish I'd thought of it! Pairs of bangle  bracelets, and the clear circuit board that's inside old keyboards.

27  A BFG, and 6 more rayguns in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: April 20, 2014 08:19:23 PM
The BFG from a broken nerf vulcan. had fun adding bits to it-the end piece on the muzzle is a broken cup holder!  There's my kiddo's old spy watch, a scope from a different toy pistol, ect ect.

The Neptunian Blaster.

Another nerf gun, hanging on a silver thingy from the thrift shop.

A huge, heavy shadowbox from the Habitat Restore, which fit perfectly into a metal stand from Goodwill.
The usual 'In case of airship pirates, break glass'.

Another! Atomic blaster.

Another 'In case of'

And the Q'Bert.

28  Reconstructed Key pendants to fantasy locations in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bookstorebabe on: April 20, 2014 07:47:50 PM
Did 17 of these so far, with necklaces I've been collecting, and my vast stash of keys. So far I've made ones for The Wardrobe, the Tardis, The Emerald Castle, Bag End-Hobbiton-The Shire, The Nautilus, The Mach 5, The Serenity, Davy Jone's Locker, Camelot, The laboratories of Dr. Moreau and Dr. Frankenstein, Asgard, ect.
I've redone the font on some of them since I took this picture.

29  Gear Shrine in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: April 20, 2014 07:24:00 PM
Took apart a computer drive thing-I dunno, it was a metal box with nifty innards, and a pain to take apart. ^_^ Painted it. Added a small piece of atc sized art I bought. It's gears embossed on paper, maybe colored with alcohol inks? I used gold foil  from a gift bag for the background.
Added a clockspring, an old capacitor, various bits and bobs, and came up with something useless but pretty. Added bonus-the real gears down the side move!
