All the quilts and blankets are making me drool! I'm impressed.

Okay, this is a small thing, but it was on my list! I took one of the black binders I bought a few of, when the store closed. Was going to decorate it, discovered it had a clear sleeve on each side to slip things in. So, I grabbed an ad out of the recycling, cut it to size. One size, is torn bits of beige rose patterned paper, red paper cut from a few gift card holders I'd saved because of the pattern, some leaves I'd dried and saved ages ago, a few tiny flicks of copper paint.
The other side is silver and copper paint, black electrical tape for lines, the 'OUTER SPACE' is from a coloring book. The center art-that's a photocopy of a b&w illustration I colored in with pencils and paint.
Binder will hold all my raggedy character sheets and game notes, instead of them being stuffed in the rule books.
More binders to do, for crafting notes, and for household stuff. And no way for them to be mistaken for my kiddo's school binders! And I used up some of my paper stash, yay!

Came out a little dark, and yes, I did prop it on a peanut butter jar to take a pic.

I have destashed a small square of red fabric with tiny white hearts, and a thrift store frame. It's about atc sized. Behold my Tesla pin up!

Aw, the robot stuffie is adorable! I'm loving all the plushies!

Okay, a tiny project. Had a small piece of red fabric, with tiny white hearts, not a clue what to do. It became the background in a small frame. I have a Tesla pin up now.
Here he is with some of my other nerdy goodness. he's about atc sized.

194  So DREAMY! Warning-Nerd Alert in Completed Projects by bookstorebabe on: February 26, 2012 02:18:39 PM
So, I had a small piece of red fabric, with tiny white hearts, and I don't really sew. I was musing over what to do-look up tutes on fabric flowers? Hmm...it's cotton, and will fray. What else?
Then, my eyes lit upon a tiny frame I bought at the thrift store for 50 cents. Perhaps the fabric would make a good background? Then, it all clicked. A small photocopy of a Tesla photo, touch it up a little, glue it on a background, add a few gear looking wash lockers...(Yes, I know, electricity would be more appropriate for Tesla. Don't judge me.) Put it all together, and realized, 'holy cow, did I just make a Tesla pin up?'
(Tesla is from the same era as Edison-but you don't have to know who he is. Just look at those smouldering eyes!)

slightly crooked, alas.
He's now with my other little nerdy goodness, things made by others, and some by me. Resting on the top of a shadowbox I made, another lovely framed piece of art from a swap behind him. I was given the dingbot clank and the atcs, I made the clock robin, and he's next to a lovely bit of found metal, with the word 'imagine' attached. He seems at home there.

195  Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011-2012 in Craftalongs by bookstorebabe on: February 25, 2012 03:20:50 PM
Finally did a little more on my long neglected shelf. The top wallpaper is cut from an old catalog of books, the middle is just paint and may be repainted, the bottom was just gold tissue, but I painted over it quite a bit. can't see it, but just painted the two lower ceilings brown, you can glimpse where the top ceiling's blue. So, that's the walls and the floors done now. Need to start making bookshelves and such, still don't have the time to work on it often. Ah, well-it'll keep.

and a bit of the lower shelf, glare and all-looks better in person.

weird...I made a post and now it's gone. Anyway!
Paper bead necklace, 1st time making paper beads. Sloppy. I need to make more though, was fun!
Revamped skirt, also new technique, but I forget when I did this-could have been january? White, green embroidery, bought to make an apron with, didn't. Painted between the stitching with acrylic paint, heat set it, tea dyed it. Fits kiddo, she likes it! Wouldn't pose, took a shot of the revamped bit.

197  Revamped a skirt for my kiddo in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bookstorebabe on: February 25, 2012 02:32:35 PM
So,ages ago I bought two white wraparound skirts, one with green embroidery, one with purple, thinking I would make aprons. I didn't. Turns out they were kiddo's size. I used acrylic paint to color in between the embroidery, heat set it. Then I tea dyed that sucker. It washes just fine! She loved it. Here's a shot of the fancied up embroidery-can't get her to pose for a skirt picture!

EDIT-wrong picture~

198  paper bead attempt in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by bookstorebabe on: February 25, 2012 02:26:49 PM
So, I fished a sheet of kiddo's sheet music out of the recycling, and made beads. I didn't cut the paper neatly, I was sloppy, the beads aren't even. But I did it! And I think I need to make more. Taking my time next time, of course.
I strung them on a broken necklace, interspersed with random beads, and knotted the chain at the end. Ran wire around the last bead, too. Just something for fun, even if it is sloppy.

Trinalocakary, wow! You've made some beautiful things!

One more for me-I took a cheap framed piece from the Dollar Store I'd bought for a dollar on clearance ages ago, and painted over it. It had an irregular surface, which suited me fine for this. Kind of an abstract starry sky? Blue and silver paint, white splattered on, and pearl x iridescent powder was sprinkled on top. When I used some clear sealer over it, it turned all purple and shimmery and spread nicely. Then I painted the frame purple. Not a lot to it, but it's hanging in my kitchen now.

And a corner closeup.

Cute magnets, and I'd have to hang up that keychain somewhere, too! The bag makes me giggle, well done! And neat bookmark! Hee, my poor old eyes would have trouble with that note even with a magnifier! Very cool swap package, indeed.

And I received from Sirael! It was probably there yesterday, my husband didn't bring in the mail, and I found the box leaning against the door, just slightly damp. Fortunately, everything inside was in bubble wrap and bone dry!
First-how cool is this? A silhouette of Irene Adler! I've just made a spot for it on my wall.

Then, a set of nifty bookmarks based on the BBC series Sherlock!

My photo isn't the best, the one with the circles says, "It's a three patch problem." And I especially like the 'we can't giggle, it's a crime scene!"
And last, a beautiful necklace and earring set, made in Irene's style.

It's lovely, and I can't wait to wear it. Thanks, Sirael!
