1 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished Hederas and a Big Bamboo! on: May 15, 2007 04:19:29 PM
Ah! Finally finished these! I leeerve them, which is probably mostly my feelings for the yarn talking (Colinette Jitterbug in the Jay colorway.) Had to do the heel my own way to make them smaller, but other than that they're pretty much straight from the pattern:

Also, here is numero uno of my first self-designed socks. The pattern for the leg is a modified version of the Big Bamboo stitch pattern from Vogue Stitchtionary Vol. I, hence the name--The Big Bamboo Socks!

Check the blog for action/detail shots, if you're interested. Wink Thanks for looking!
2 CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Amazing crochet-themed tee on: May 09, 2007 10:48:46 AM
Hey my hooking cousins. I'm not a crocheter, and I apologize if this has been posted already, but I just saw this t-shirt, designed by the very talented John Allison, and I had to tell someone!

Check it out here! (It's up at the top.)
3 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished Monkey Socks on: April 13, 2007 06:41:17 AM
These were so fun to knit, and they went fast. Knit in Liza Souza's Sock! merino, in the Violet's Pink Ribbon colorway.

See the blog for an action shot Wink
4 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Atia on: January 31, 2007 03:44:41 PM
Here she is! I decided to call this sweater Atia because I've become addicted to that show Rome. This is the first sweater I've ever designed myself, so be kind Smiley

This was knit almost totally in the round, with a garter stitch lace panel in the front. Knit with Cascade 220 in Amethyst Heather. Thanks for looking!
5 KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Knitty Winter 2006 on: December 07, 2006 04:45:16 AM
Edit: It's up!!!

...is not up yet. I am on high Knitty alert. After the first day of a new Knitty month I always get antsy--I kind of like the anticipation, though. Anyone here a contributor this issue?
6 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / 100 Yen Shop Scarf on: February 10, 2006 08:31:07 AM
I knit this up tonight to give to a friend for her birthday tomorrow. I was really surprised that it came out so well! The scarf was knit with funky slub yarn that I bought at the 100 yen shop, and alternates between straight stockinette and dropped stitch sections. The flower is Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool that I had lying around. I think it has cyber-urban flava! Happy Birthday Jo!

7 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Finished 'Air' from Rowan Calmer Collection on: November 04, 2005 08:41:06 AM
Just finished my Air, done up in the recommended Rowan Calmer. I still have to find the perfect buttons, but I decided to leave off the pocket flaps because they looked kind of silly. Enjoy!

8 Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Virginian firefly in Nippon on: October 27, 2005 07:18:31 AM
I'm a NoVA girl living in Japan for the year, teachin' the English to Japanese middle schoolers. The town I'm living in is famous for its annual firefly festival (and little else.) Thus, I felt it my duty to dress up as a hotaru (firefly) and show my Tatsuno pride. I'm attending a big Halloween party two towns over on Saturday, and I just finished my costume. The best thing about it is, aside from the clothes which I already had, everything came from the 100 yen shop (like a dollar store, but so much better).
Hat = yarn from the 100 yen shop
Tail = tap light, gift wrap netting, belt, double stick and clear tape...all from the 100 yen shop
Wings = wire, pliers, pantyhose, glitter glue from, you guessed it, the 100 yen shop.

The funny thing about the Tatsuno firefly festival is that the insects are not native to this area, so they breed them specifically for the festival and then they all die like a week later. Kind of lends the costume an air of the macabre...right?
9 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Skulls - So Hard Core on: October 03, 2005 06:35:39 AM
I'm embarking on a new program at school, whereby I basically bribe my students to speak English. I'm going to knit a ton of cool wristbands to offer as prizes for the keen ones. This was a practice piece, which came out as more of an armband Tongue However, as it's so freakin' hardcore, I thought I'd post pictures.

Action Pose (so hardcore!)

10 KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Completed "Hipster" from the new Knitty - ***Now with Koi Chart! on: September 25, 2005 12:17:06 AM
My school's festival is coming up, and everyone, even the teachers, are supposed to contribute something to the big group exhibit. Since I wanted to make a Hipster (http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATThipster.html) anyway, I thought it would be the perfect quick-to-whip-up project. This was my first felting project, and it was so much fun! I'm ashamed to say that this is actually the second attempt, because the first time around I used a yarn that I had forgotten was a machine washable wool (and hence, did not felt at all). The felted pocket on the front is from that first attempt, which had a fair isle koi on the flap. It's all good though, and I'm happy with how it turned out. Is anyone else making this?
