1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A few simple folded clutches on: October 26, 2010 09:08:19 PM
Since I have a newly reorganized sewing room, courtesy of my boyfriend and a trip to IKEA, I have been sewing like crazy.  I made the 3 smaller clutches (4 1/2 x 9) the other day, and the larger (12 x 6) a little while ago.  I just winged the small size, and it was super easy!  I used snaps as closures on the small clutches, first with a snap setter, with poor results, then resorted to a hammer.  I gave up on the bigger one, because of finicky fabric, and used black velcro.  I would really suggest trying a bag like this, because they sew up fast, and are instant gratification.  I made two for Halloween, and the other two for anytime bags.

2  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Upper Looper Won't Move. on: September 25, 2009 02:14:20 PM
So, I bought a serger on eBay.  It was already threaded, but I re-threaded it according to the directions, because I wasn't sure it hadn't shifted around in shipping.  I tried a test run, but the thread wouldn't chain, and all the threads pulled back out of the fabric, and it would only work for a few moments before jamming.  I hand-turned the wheel while watching the loopers, and it looks like the upper looper isn't moving at all.  I might still have a threading issue, but I'm sure that all the pieces should move!  I have never used a serger, so I really have no idea what to do.  I've been googling all day with no solution.  Is it really broken?
3  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / Temporary Tattoos On Shoes? on: August 31, 2009 04:21:34 PM
Does anyone know if you can transfer temporary tattoos onto a shoe, and make them stay on?  Do they just fall apart after awhile, or even attach at all?  I plan on sealing them, if the tattoo will stick.  I have a pair of canvas slip-ons that have been painted with black fabric paint.
4  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Missing "My Craftster" on: July 23, 2009 07:49:42 AM
Today, I noticed that I am missing the "My Craftster" button on the measuring tape.  It still appears on the home page, but so far, no where else.

Is it just me?
5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Old Photo Albums on: June 02, 2009 02:25:24 PM
So I have about 5-6 old albums, some in okay shape, some kinda falling apart at the spine.  I need some ideas on what I can use them for, either a use for just the plastic sleeves, or all of the album.  I really don't want to throw them away, but without a lot of TLC, they are pretty useless.  Any ideas?

6  UNITED STATES / Michigan / 2009 West Michigan Meetup on: February 08, 2009 09:16:26 PM
Hey girls!  I was thinking that some of us might want to meet up soon.  I was thinking that May might be good, since it's far enough ahead of time for most people.  Any other ideas?  Places that would be good to meet up?  I'm in NW Grand Rapids, but I would be willing to travel if it's not more than an hour away.
7  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Weird Login Popup on: September 19, 2008 10:43:05 PM
So I was here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=22875.0 I was in "show images only" and then on page 5 of the images, when this thing popped up and requested a user name and password.  I clicked cancel, and it turned into another one.  Clicking the 'X' did not work either.  The entire time, my browser flashed and I was unable to close out.  I went back again after I reopened Firefox and it happened only on that page again.  I don't know if it's my browser, or the actual page.  Maybe something is weird with a picture on there?

8  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / How do you find out the age of a machine? on: July 11, 2008 09:42:36 AM
So I bought a Wards UHT J1276 a few years ago, and it didn't come with anything.  I have found a place to buy a manual (sewusa), but I just wondered how to tell its age without it.  My estimate is sometime before the 70s, based on the look of it.  Is there somewhere online that could tell me a little more about it?  I googled for hours and came up with nothing.

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Online Twill Fabric on: July 08, 2008 02:45:59 PM
So I was browsing Ebay for fabric, and I found a listing for some twill.  However, the picture looks very shiny, and it was described as lining.  I asked about it and was assured it was "standard 230 twill, 72 grams in weight".  I have no idea what that means.  Does anyone know anything about any technical details of twill?  I thought it was usually a medium weight fabric.  I was hoping to use it for a coat.  Maybe I have no idea though!   Cheesy
10  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Missing Recent Posts Pictures on: June 11, 2008 03:49:19 PM
I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but I did try looking.  Sometimes when I'm going through the most recent with pics, the page will be missing pictures, as well as any pages after.  I might be on page 8, click on page 9, and page 9 and 10 are all missing pictures, looking something like this:

Craftster Community > Recent Posts
Pages: 1 ... 8 9 [10]

Pages: 1 ... 8 9 [10]

(I have no idea how to get a screen shot to paste into here, so I copied and pasted what was on my screen.)  The entire page looks normal to me, except that the middle part where pictures would be is missing.  I've tried refreshing the page but nothing happens.  Usually I just wait a little while, and check the recent posts again and everything is back.  I don't know if this is something weird on my end.  It happens a few times a week.
