1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Death Note Swap? on: July 29, 2007 01:30:31 PM
I've been so obsessed with Death Note lately, it's ridiculous. Grin I finished the anime series a few weeks ago, and I watched both movies. In a row. Then re-watched them the next day. I swear my Death Note art/fanfic/wallpaper/avatar collection size exceeds my music folder, which is saying something. (Of course, there's the Death Note music too, and the fonts and... you get the idea. Tongue )

Soooo, I thought, why not combine two of my obsessions? (Well, three if you count the 'net... Tongue four including L, he's a separate obsession >.> xD) Craftster + Death Note = Amazingly Awesome Death Note swap?

I know there are some Death Note fans here... We'd need an organizer. If there's enough interest, sign-ups in mid August... maybe closing on August 31st because that's when the director's special comes out? (Or not, my weird ideas again. Grin Tongue ) We could craft everything from apparel to Death Notes of our own, stationery sets, the sky's the limit!

If you'd be at all interested in the swap, please please please post and get all your DN-loving friends here too! Grin
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Knapsack/Backpack Strap Adjusters! on: April 17, 2007 03:08:11 PM
All right, I'm making a modified Monster Bag, for a little 2-3 year old girl. I'm making it as a knapsack. I finally decided to do the straps with nylon webbing (I'm pretty sure that's the right term, similar to the stuff they make dog leashes with?)...

I have two strap adjusters, kind of like the ones on this backpack. I'm wondering, are there any step-by-step "for dummies" instructions for threading and properly attaching backpack straps, so that as she grows, she will still fit the backpack?

Thanks a billion for your help! Cheesy
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Canadians-Only Swap? on: April 06, 2007 08:48:26 AM
I saw that there have been Canadian-Craftsters-only swaps in the past (like the Beat Canada Post swap), but not for a while now.

Would anyone be interested in a swap for Canadian Craftsters? It would certainly save on shipping costs! Grin
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Ceiling Disaster? on: April 05, 2007 10:47:10 AM
HELP! Shocked

I printed one of those "rasterbations" (basically an image made of dots), and my mother advised me to use this double-sided tape. Well, I got bored of it and tried to take it down...

Detail of ceiling...

How (aside from painting) can I fix these brown spots that are currently nicely lined up in a rectangle shape above my head? Thanks!!!

(I figured this would go in either the Misc. discussion or Stitch'n'Botch... since it's more Botch and less Craft, I put it here. Tongue )
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Monster Bag! on: March 09, 2007 09:30:41 AM
Well, I actually finished this the day before Valentine's Day, but I hadn't gotten around to uploading pictures... So, here we are!

My monster bag! I named her Fidget, and I love her to bits! She took me foreeeeever to make, because I'm such a noob at sewing! Tongue

I hand-sewed most of it, since I broke four machine needles doing the faux fur (and still haven't found one and a half needles, eek! Shocked ). The eyes, inner teeth and tongue are glued on, the outside fangs are sewn on. Smiley

Here's the tutorial.

Fidget's outside.

Her mouth.

Her belly.

Comments? Cheesy Thanks!

Edit to add the link to the tutorial I used... With a few modifications of my own. Smiley
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cracked Marbles! on: January 29, 2007 06:10:00 AM
You crafty gals have made my day,
I'll show you why, if I may.

My marbles were, at first, oh so blah:

But now my marbles are so rah!

Marble pendants are so yummy:

And, to be sure, they're very rummy! Cheesy

I put them in the oven, 40 minutes at 450,
And now they look so beautifully nifty!

Thank you, lovely Craftsters, for making my day!
I love these marbles, hip, hip, hooray! Grin

P.S. I'm sorry for typing this post in rhyme,
But I simply couldn't resist this time!
7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Graduation Party: I need a theme! on: January 27, 2007 12:55:48 PM
I'm homeschooled, and hoping (*crosses fingers*) to graduate within the next month, maybe two. (Depends how life goes, as usual. Tongue )
Since I'm not graduating in June or going to prom or anything, some friends of mine that are in my Girl Guides unit have decided that one of the meetings will be a party for me! Cheesy
(I love my friends!)

But... they've asked me if there's a theme I want, and I can't pick one!
Any ideas???
Thanks in advance for any help!!! Grin
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My First Duct-Tape Purse/Wallet Set! on: December 26, 2006 07:42:59 AM
I did this for a youth group; we did the Present Swap/Steal for our Christmas party, so I didn't know who it would go to. I was quite happy with how it turned out, and the recipient seemed to be, too. She said she took it to school and got a bunch of compliments. Grin
It's made from a tutorial that I believe I found on Craftster, but I can't find the link.
The structure is made of cardboard, covered in duct-tape, and since I couldn't find any other colours of tape, I used coloured electrical tape for the edges and strap (ran out of tape).
I left them pretty plain, and told her that she could decorate and draw on them with Sharpies. Smiley

9  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Beginning of My Ceiling Makeover! on: November 16, 2006 05:33:51 AM
I've discovered a cool technique - rasterbation!
This is one of my own photos that I turned into a ceiling poster and put up with two-sided tape. (Now I just have to hope it comes off without taking the paint... :-x )

Before:

Plain old boring white ceiling... Bleh!

After:

Ta dah! Right over my bed, so I can motivate myself to get outta bed and take my camera to get some nice sunrises!
(Please excuse the bookshelf and cat ears at the top, LOL!!!)

What do you think?

10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Jump Ring Drop Earrings on: November 14, 2006 08:14:16 AM
My second pair of earrings! Grin
(I'm not posting my first, LOL.)

I've been tossing around ideas for jump ring jewelry for a few days... I'm not sure if this has already been done by another person, but I was so pleased with myself for thinking this up. Cheesy
I need to go and buy some silver earrings, to match the jump rings' colours.

I took this one. Smiley

My dad took this picture, and that's me modelling it. Smiley
