1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Turtle baby quilt, hand quilting in progress - *more pics added p. 2* on: May 02, 2007 04:50:11 PM
Thanks kitkabbit! I really don't know how much time it took me to do.  I worked on it for months and months and months it seems, but wouldn't even get a chance to get a single stitch in for over a month at times.  But wow, it did take a lot of hours.  That's awesome you are finishing up your first!

Wow everyone, thank you so much!

Shannonstollee, I don't know what fabrics those are.  I was so very lucky to have an AMAZING quilt shop in town (just closed) so I could just go in and browse an amazing collection of fabrics without knowing designers, collections or the like.

Thanks again for the kind words.

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Batting question.... on: January 18, 2007 12:48:53 PM
Thanks, good to know your experiences with the poly bat., I'll give it a go.  I know people do it all the time, I just thought they were using a different product from those I know.

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Batting question.... on: January 15, 2007 05:32:54 PM
I am looking for a batting that does not need to have quilting lines very close together.  I usually use all cotton batting that requires stitching every two inches.  I want to do some quicker, simple quilts that don't have tons of quilting, maybe even just tied, but I am having trouble finding a batting for this.  My fabulous mom got me two rolls of poly batting thinking that should do it, but even this poly batting says quilting lines need to be 2-4 inches apart.  I know what I am looking for is out there, but what is the type/brand?Huh

TIA!  Smiley

6  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Backing a cotton quilt with flannel on: January 15, 2007 05:28:10 PM
Pre-wash both front and back ca few times before basting and you should be fine.  Flannel doesn't  look brand new after washing though, but if it's just for you then no problem.  Also, I have heard not to use sheets to back quilts because they are a different thread count than quilting/decent cotton fabric and over time the front a back will shrink and wear differently.  But I am not so sure how important that is to you, or just how true it is.  I say go for it  Smiley

9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Simple fun and funky toddler quilt on: December 04, 2006 07:46:16 PM
Just finished up this fun toddler quilt.  It's super simple and machine quilted but it was fun just because the fabrics are so fun!  I began with the bright blue flower fabric and knew I wanted a striped back.  Anywho, here it is (with my adorable daughter checking it out!)

The close-up pics are kind of wacky color wise but you get the idea Wink

How sweet, what a great idea!  I'll have to start saving sleepers as my girl grows!
