2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / miss scarlet makes a visit-- tampon cozy. on: September 22, 2008 04:15:27 PM
So one of my good friends is moving to a different city at the end of the week. I wanted to make her a gift, nothing big, and something practical but cute. At work I always forgot certain "items" when aunt flo came to visit, and she was always there for me. However, she had no good storage process. Therefore..... tada!

I have combined her love for hello kitty, need for organization, and my incredibly minor sewing skills.

3 pockets for tampons, and one for panty liners

What do ya'll think?
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / my first clothing item/project from Generation T on: July 21, 2006 09:15:09 PM
I wish I had the book, but I found some projects out of Generation T on gurl.com and had a work shirt that was dying for a makeover. Luckily, at work, the closest we have to a dress code is 'no short skirts' and thats it! Guess who has a new, cool (literally... the AC doesn't work too great) work shirt? ME! Hooray!

excuse the blurriness of the photo. my camera doesnt normally do that.

thanks for looking!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / surprise room for my mom-- help! on: July 16, 2006 01:37:01 PM
Ok, so technically my mother and I just bought a house near my college. I say technically because she travels so is basically never home. In fact, I've got a few weeks before she'll be back. Since I'm the 'primary' resident, my room is nice and done. Hers, however, well, its just got a bed  and a closet as it is. I'll post pictures, too. Anyway, my plan is to decorate it for when she returns, as a surprise. All I can think of so far or making a quilted duvet cover (inspired by http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=44868.0) and fixing up the pillows. Other than that, I don't know! I mean I'm sure I could go to target and find loads of stuff to fancy it up, but we're on a very strict budget right now. Any ideas?

thank you!
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / another 'take' on the jordy purse :) on: June 06, 2006 11:47:16 PM
so last friday when I went to my dad's house, The Wiggles were on TV and Chloe had just gotten a new "Wiggles" DVD and loved it. That crap is horrendous. Seriously... I mean the worst we had were the startings of Barney... and at least there were kids in that. Not grown men dressed like a rainbow with perma-smiles on in some acid-induced world. So anyway, I decided I must do SOMETHING. Solution?

strawberry shortcake purse...

but wait!

it's reversible!!! starring snow white and cinderella!

action shot!

this shall come equipped with Cinderella, Snow White, and Meet Strawberry Shortcake all on <u><b>VHS</b></u> wooohoo!

Thoughts? It's my first real sewing project... and so far im quite pleased.
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / mothers day for a working mom on: May 01, 2006 04:33:26 PM
Ok, so I've gone through every single post in the mothers day thread and everything is unbelievably cute... but wouldn't fit my mom at all.

A little about my mother...

-- She travels for her job and stays in hotels... but has everything you could possibly want.need travelwise
-- She can't garden or keep basically anything alive if it stays at home
-- I live about 2 hrs from her.
-- Her birthday is this Saturday (may 6, 2005), and shes visiting thursday evening. Basically, I need at least SOMETHING quickly.
-- Basically, shes a business woman who enjoys organization, relaxation, and beer... but who doesnt?
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / stuffed duck on: September 11, 2004 04:54:50 PM
so a while back I created a felt monster that looked quite similar to a dinosaur, using the oh-so-popular felt-monster tutorial. that was my first sewing project ever, and I hadn't sewn since... well... until about midnight last night.

In a relaization that I had waited the last minute for getting a gift for a baby shower thrown for my step-mother... i thought that with no money and no original store-bought ideas, i'd make something.

that is where the memory of my felt-dino, Franky, came up. He is now living quite comfortably on top a computer at the University of Montevallo, and since he went over quite well, and the theme for the baby room is, of course, duckies, what better thing to make than an incredibly soft, easy, stuffed duck?

this is what resulted from my mindnight raid of walmart fabrics and love for my sewing machine...

his butt looks a bit odd because I am quite useless when it comes to handsewing, but i'm still happy with how it turned out.

my best friend's birthday is coming up, and i am thinking of making her something similar, different animal, but could someone please tell me the following (sorry, i really am a beginner)

1) Whats the best way to handstitch the hole closed?

and

2) If I were to make single layer clothing for the next project, how do i keep the ends from fraying without hemming?

thanks so much. good luck in all your endeavors.
