1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Zelda swap round 2! SO 1/31/2011 on: January 31, 2011 10:30:35 AM
I haven't been able to get on the computer Sad  I have, however, been able to finish my crafting, yay!  Now I just need to set up a time to meet with my partner.  (I'm still excited about how awesome it is to have a fellow craftster in town!)

Computer time has been scarce! :/  On the up side, my medium is done and the large is past the halfway point!   I'm loving this swap... and I may have to make one for myself when I'm done. Smiley

Checking in!  I lost track of Craftster when the school semester started, oops!

Medium is almost done, along with a couple of smalls.  I've stalled out on the Large until I get more materials (I made an oopsie! Wink)  I'm also tossing around a few ideas for extras, since I'll be meeting up with my partner and avoiding shipping costs! Cheesy

Who here has played Link the the Past?

Since I've read many times that it's as good as ocarina of time, I just downloaded it on the virtual console. And man! It's really hard! Or maybe I just suck. But I have died so many times from stupid snakes and rats in the sewers, and I'm only half hour into the game.

Those of you that have played it, what did you think of it? And any pointers for a hopelessly terrible noob?
LttP is one of my favorite Zelda games!  It was the first one I could (sort-of) play on my own. (Though I still had to hand off the controller to my grandma for the hard parts!)  It's got a great storyline if you go around and talk to everyone, too!

I agree on the whole change-your-angle until your sword is between you and whomever you're attacking.  For the sewers, it's a little easier if you turn up your brightness so you can see things coming and to just kind of swing your sword as you go, so anything attacking you dies.  The game gets easier once you get the Pegasus Boots (chaaaarge!) so try to stick with it!  Also remember that Zelda has always been just as much about puzzles and strategy as fighting, so a lot of times you can just avoid monsters instead of trying to deal with them.

Crafting has begun on the large, but I'll need to make a trip to the craft store before I can finish.  Luckily there's plenty to do in the mean time.
5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Doctor Who Round 4 Gallery!!! :D on: January 07, 2011 10:51:56 AM
I'm glad you like everything, Staar84!  I'm in the middle of moving all my files to a new computer, so I'll have to find the photos I took, but I'll post them as soon as I do. Smiley

Also: As amazing as this gallery is... there are far too many scary weeping angels.  Those episodes gave me nightmares!  Embarrassed
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: The Big Bang Theory Swap on: January 07, 2011 09:38:14 AM
The "points" are a way to mix and match what you send. instead of saying make one large and one small you would say 4 pts.. which could include large & small or 2 mediums.
3 points = large
2 points = medium
1 point = small
really tiny items are usually referred to as "extras" sometimes as "tiny"

What makes a s/m/l varies a bit by organizer, they usually give a guide but here is one I have seen often:

Small Item = 1 point --> 2 or less hours (eg. bookmark, earrings, coin purse)...  ...
... $10
Medium Item = 2 points --> 2 or more hours (eg. scarf, doll, necklace)... or $10-$ ...
...
Large Item = 3 points --> 3 or more hours (eg. ...
... , purse, shawl, jewelry set)... or $30+

It can be defined as by time, cost, or physical size.. or a combination of the three.
I know i never use time b/c I spend waaaay more on most things I make

What I usually do is average out how much time I spent and how much it cost.  For instance, if I spend 4 hours on an item that only cost a couple of dollars in supplies, I usually count it as a medium.

While I'm at it, let me share with you the awesome Griffendor scarf ambermoony made for my Love!

And here's the amazing Philosopher's Stone necklace phoenixfiredesigns made in return!

Isn't it amazing?  It's a giant crystal that looks like it could have been plucked straight out of the movie!  I love it so much~ Smiley  Thanks again, PFD!

Found out my partner live in the same city as me! We are soooo gonna skip the shipping and just meet up instead!!! Saves money and I don't have to think about the size of what I make if I want to do something large!

The same thing happened with my partner (how awesome is that?!)  AND she has something I made on her wist (makes one of my items easy to decide on, haha!)  Dizzer has some amazing partnering skills, I swear!

I've just got to make sure I don't get my Zelda and my Who partners mixed up after getting them so close together.

Ahahaha!  Harvey, I'm doing exactly the same thing XD

I see the three of us have impeccable taste not only in TV shows/video games, but also in swaps as well, haha!  I'm just glad my partners have completely different tastes, so it's easier to keep track in my head... but I'll still need my crafty notebook to keep track of what I'm making.  I always end up with way too many ideas, so I have to list them out with how many points they'd be, or I'd end up doing 10 point swaps every time!

(River Song journal, everyone?).

Fixed that for you.  Roll Eyes Cheesy

It would be awesome to have partners early and extra crafting time!  I don't think I could stand it if I had to wait another week and a half for partners, haha!
