My sketchbook arrived today, in time for me to make a huge effort over the weekend, then forget about it until Christmas!

Done.  My theme is uncharted waters.

I wasn't sure about participating again this year, as I left everything right down to the deadline last year and had to sprint to the postbox to get it in on time (only to find out that they'd given an extension due to the heavy snow in the US).

Buuuuut...  as they are holding an exhibition in London and they have the ideal theme for me, I'm going to have to do it.  Now just to remember my password to sign into the site.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / At the bottom of the garden, there's a tiny house... (pic heavy) on: June 18, 2011 08:05:50 AM

I love the little houses that others have made and decided to renovate a rather uninspiring birdhouse that I found.

What a fantastic cause, and what gorgeous pages everyone has done for the book. Best of luck for your fundraising.

We have a similar event over here in the UK called Race for Life, which I'm running in the same weekend as you have your relay.

... but a couple of people are having a wedding in London tomorrow.

And everyone in the country has gone nuts to join in!  There are flags and bunting on the streets, shop windows are full of displays, people are arranging parties, and there have been all kinds of things on the tv and in the papers.  It has been impossible not to be influenced by it all.

So I give you... The Royal Wedding (in inchies)

Created from a newspaper special, postage stamp and some DIY mini-bunting.  Close up of my favourites.

The two that say "Everybody in the House of Love" refer to this.  I love it!
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Reading Swap Gallery on: April 24, 2011 01:05:35 PM
So glad that you liked my package, after taking so long to send it out.  I Capture the Castle is one of my favourite reads so I thought I'd pass it on.  And coincidence that your cat is called Earl?

Another guess for the inchies, could one be The Shipping News by Annie Proloux?  I can't remember the cover of the Voyage of the Narwhal, except that it was blue?

After great delay, all on my side i'm afraid to say, here are some pics of the excellent swap package I recieved from Southern Flower.

The books - The Sceret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd; Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer; The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseni and a gorgeous h/b edition of Out of Africa by Isak Dinesen.

An amazing personalised embroidered bookmark.  I absolutely love this, and have started using it already.

Some lovely stamped bookplated in a cute paper box.

A wallet for my library pass made from patchwork fabric, a bibliophile ATC and some inchies showing part of the cover of some of my favourite books.  One is definitely The Handmaid's Tale, but the others I'm not so sure.  An edition of Lord of the Flies, I think, and something with a mountain on the cover - Touching the Void?

She also made me a funky body mop thing for a scrub-down after reading in the bath 'til I turn wrinkly.  I love sitting in a hot bath with a glass of icy cold wine and a good book.  Thanks for a great swap southern flower.  I hope my package gets to you soon!

I need to decide if I'm going to play again or not. It sure was great seeing all the books! Phizz, I see they're going to London next year...
I might have to sign up if they're coming to London!

I'd be up for doing the project again if they came to London.  A chance to see all the books you guys have made for real.
10  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Reading Swap (Sign-ups: CLOSED; Send by: March 28, 2011) on: April 15, 2011 01:06:52 AM
Just a wee update to let you know that i'm back, after being whisked off to Barcelona for a couple of days by the Mr, to make up for a hard few weeks.

I recieved a fab package from Southern Flower last weekend which cheered me up no end, and photos will be posted as soon as I download them from my camera (which is filled with millions of holiday snaps).  Her package from me went into the post at the start of the week, so should be with her possibly for next weekend.  It always seems to take so long for post to cross the pond.
