1  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / What is the name? on: April 06, 2008 06:33:35 AM
I found a recipe in Nigella Lawsons cookbook for Pomegranite No Churn Ice Cream. It is heaven. But really it is not ice cream at all. It is whipped whipping cream with confectioners sugar and fruit juice. A week later i had the TV on to another cooking show. They mentioned this type of dessert and gave it a name. They said that it is very popular in Europe. Of course i missed what they called it because i was washing dishes with the TV on. Does anyone know the name of this dessert? It is not Gelato.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Ice Skating party on: December 28, 2007 08:25:37 AM
My oldest DD turned 9. She wants an ice skating party. There is a great rink that i will rent. They have party rooms attached to the rink.  I plan on making this an Ice Cream Sundae Ice Skating Party. The kids will have pizza and for dessert they will make their own sundaes. I would like to play 1 game. The problem is that it has to be a sitting game since the kids will be still wearing their ice skates. The room is fairly small and the kids will be sitting at the tables. I only came up with Birthday Bingo. But i dont love that idea. Any thoughts?
3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Favorite Cookbooks on: January 17, 2007 09:57:23 AM
I love sifting through good cookbooks. There are so many good ones out there. I would like to share some of my favorites with all of you. And i would also like you to share your favorites with me. Please explain why you love your cookbook.
        1) Ina Garten Barefoot Contesse, Family Style
The recipes are easy yet elegant for any occassion.
        2) Back To The Table, by Art Smith
He is Oprahs chef and his recipes are also simple and homey.
3)The Yellow Farmhouse Cookbook, by Chris Kimball
This book really cover the basics of many different recipes.
He goes into detail of what works and why. This is a great
book for any new and old cook.
I have many other books but these 3 i tend to really use over and over. Please share you favorites.
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Sponge Bob Party! on: January 09, 2007 06:28:08 AM
My daughter turned 8 and is having a Sponge Bob Hula party. It will be both boys and girls there. We are inviting about 35 kids. Usually about half actually comes. I am a bit stumped on craft and game ideas. So far i have 2 games. First they will play Mr Crab Says. Its just like simon says. Then they will play Crabby Patty Relay game. They will divide into 2 teams. Each will have an oven mitt and a spactula. Each team must carry a hamburger bun on the stactula while wearing the mitt. Of course will have a pinata. Now im stumped. Does anyone have any good game and craft ideas? I appreciate any help.
5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / double turkey help update on: November 27, 2006 10:54:51 AM
my original post seems to be missing and i wanted to let you all know how my 27lb bird went. it went awesome! i roasted it in an oven bag unstuffed. i dont have a roasting pan so i bought a foil disposable one. it barely fit. i would like to add that there was alot of grease from the bird. it probably would have overfilled the pan if it was'nt in the oven bag. thanks everyone for all your help and input. next year i would like to try a martha stewert spicy bird. they were showing her shows all morning on thankgiving and made a really spicy bird with bryant gumball. yum!!!!!!!
