1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: How to transport cupcakes? on: April 23, 2008 08:24:02 AM
I will gather boxes from some stores that have a good lid. I will also save containers from store bought cakes and cupcakes. Wash n reuse.

3  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / What is the name? on: April 06, 2008 06:33:35 AM
I found a recipe in Nigella Lawsons cookbook for Pomegranite No Churn Ice Cream. It is heaven. But really it is not ice cream at all. It is whipped whipping cream with confectioners sugar and fruit juice. A week later i had the TV on to another cooking show. They mentioned this type of dessert and gave it a name. They said that it is very popular in Europe. Of course i missed what they called it because i was washing dishes with the TV on. Does anyone know the name of this dessert? It is not Gelato.
4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Interesting sushi roll on: February 22, 2008 07:02:09 AM
That does sound bizarre. I might try it tonight since we are having sushi for dinner.

I was watching Alton Brown the other night and i learned something new. The term California Roll means the inside out sushi. The term Sushi means the rice not the fish. I just wanted to share!

6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Old School 1970s Nasty Salad Recipes on: February 10, 2008 03:23:36 PM
There are alot of good recipes and some not so good from the 70's.  What sends me running is any recipe that begins with the word "Mock." yuck!
7  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust Dilemma on: February 05, 2008 06:31:17 AM
Did you bake your crust? If you are filling the pie with an unbaked filling then you must bake the crust.  Oven on 350 for 8-10 minutes. A store bought crust will always hold its shape better. But homemade still taste better.

9  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Home Made Marshmallows! with recipe on: January 04, 2008 08:49:32 AM
I use the hand mixer too.

This recipe can easily be converted into Easter Peeps. Dust the pan with colored sugar instead of confectioners sugar. You can easily make it yourself with 1-2cups sugar and a few drops of food dye. Swirl in a food processor. Then use bunny cookie cutters to cut out your peeps. My kids love making them at Easter.
10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Ice Skating party on: December 28, 2007 08:25:37 AM
My oldest DD turned 9. She wants an ice skating party. There is a great rink that i will rent. They have party rooms attached to the rink.  I plan on making this an Ice Cream Sundae Ice Skating Party. The kids will have pizza and for dessert they will make their own sundaes. I would like to play 1 game. The problem is that it has to be a sitting game since the kids will be still wearing their ice skates. The room is fairly small and the kids will be sitting at the tables. I only came up with Birthday Bingo. But i dont love that idea. Any thoughts?
