11  Invite Your Partner Round 17 (Sign-ups Jan 1 - 31st; Send-out by Feb 28th) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by gatheredthreads on: January 01, 2011 05:38:13 AM

Discussion thread for IYP17
Gallery for IYP17!!

(Description shamelessly taken from previous IYP swap - thank you Goldfishpollywog and SuperHooker!!)

Heres how it works:

In this swap, you can contact anyone and ask them to be your partner. It's almost like a personal swap, but with a group, and a killer gallery! You will have to sign up with your partner. That is, you must contact your potential partner via pm and you both must mutually agree to be partnered together. Once you have a partner, each of you must pm me ((gatheredthreads and sweety28303))   with your information, and after doing all the necessary double checking, I will post you both together as participants and add this swap to your "In progress" feedback.

Swappers may have two partners this round! However, if you have any instances of 'poor swapping' documented in your feedback (such as 'no communication' 'did not craft in the spirit of the swap') or numerous instances of sending very late, I ask that you only craft for one partner. You may have no more than two partners.

As partners, you will choose if you want to have a theme, if you want to post stalk each other and be surprised, or if you want to request from each other things you have admired in the past. You should also agree on quantity. I would suggest one "large" (time consuming and/or valuable) item, and a couple of "small" (quicker to craft) items that you know your partner will like. Unless you choose otherwise. Feel free to start crafting for your partner as soon as you are both officially signed up!

If you want to participate, but you are a bit shy of just asking someone, you can PM gatheredthreads and sweety28303, and you'll be put on a list of "Potential Partners" in the next post, so people can choose from craftsters that are interested.

 RULES:
swappers will receive temporary negative feedback if:
- it is one week past send-outs and you are out of communication
- it is two weeks past send-outs and you have not yet sent, regardless of the communication with us and your partner.
- you cannot sign up for this swap if you are still currently late in any IYP swaps.

Even if you decide with your partner that you are sending late and she/he says its alright, you MUST send by two weeks past the send out date or this will be reflected in negative feedback. once you do send, you will have positive feedback again, BUT this late sending will be reflected in your comments even if you communicated.

THIS IS A VERY IN DEPTH SWAP AND WE ARE TRADING WITH PEOPLE WE LIKE. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND BE READY TO SEND ON TIME!

ONE NOTE: It is a little scary to ask someone to be your partner. Some people may have someone else already in mind, or they may not have the time or funds to participate right now, or they may just not be interested. We need to remember to be nice if we feel we need to refuse someone, and to not take it personally if someone else turns us down.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Contact your partner (make sure they're in good standing, swapwise), and agree to join together
2. Both partners must PM gatheredthreads, sweety28303 and each other with mailing information.  Please also send your mailing info to your partner.
3. Post in this thread so I can keep up with you!
4. Make sure you can mail on time, and provide organizers with a DC number when you do.
5. PM your partner and organizers when you receive as well! Your partner CANNOT get feedback unless you PM us. Thank your partner both in a PM and publicly in the gallery. If you are unable to post pictures, please let your partner know before they send to you. In this case, you still need to post in the gallery about what you received.
6. Lack of PMs to organizer and your partner will be noted in feedback!!!
7. Have fun!

12  Advent Calendar Quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by gatheredthreads on: December 01, 2010 06:50:46 AM
I designed the pockets for this, and had them printed at Spoonflower

I have made two so far.  One for a gift:

And one for my girls, hanging full of treats:

It is big, about 2 feet by three feet.

13  tardis quilt in Quilting: Completed Projects by gatheredthreads on: November 30, 2010 08:04:52 PM
I made two of these pretties.  One for sloth003 in the stocking swap, and one for my DH's community workshop classroom:

The technique I settled on was to choose the fabrics for the ground, water, and sky, scan them in to the computer, and piece them there for the background.  Then I created the tardis graphic and the building, then printed it on fabric with Bubble Jet Set.

Then the quilt has an LED embedded in it that fades in and out behind the beacon (it's brighter in person):

I have a pic of the other sloth:

And one my DH took of the tardis (actually I don't recall if this is the one that went to you, or the one that went to DH's workshop - I made 2 the same) :

I can't wait to see what you make with the fabrics!  You have such a good eye for colour and pattern.

15  Re: Christmas Stocking Swap Round 6!!!! in The Swap Gallery by gatheredthreads on: November 15, 2010 01:00:41 PM
I was so lucky to meet up with sloth003 for coffee today, and to be completely spoiled by her!

First up, she made me a stocking that is designed to be taken apart again, it has loads of charms, ribbons, buttons, etc., for me to use in my crafting:

And a close-up of my favourite, the tree buttons:

Then, presents for the rest of the family.  A gorgeous rainbow dog pillow for my 7 year old:

A lovely embroidered sea life banner for my 1 year old's room:

And some groovy portal inspired coasters for my DH:

Next was this bag:

Which contained needlefelting supplies.  And there was another huge bag of multicoloured roving too:

Then there were some lovely christmas stickers and notecards:

A sunprinting kit:

Some ribbons, threads, and sequins, which will be put to good use:

An adorable pirate bag:

A sunprinted pencil case, which I love:

Even moreso for the goodies inside (the chocolates are from a friend of sloth's who runs a chocolate shop):

Fabric covered notebooks:

A magnetic vase, some chutney, a "lifesavers" stack of candles, some tissues, and a toothbrush for when I am done with the goodies:

A beautiful embroidery to illustrate "sometimes there was a storm in her brain" -- which describes me to a T Cheesy :

And lastly, two sets of double sided placemats, which all together cover fall:

winter:

spring:

and summer:

I'm sure I missed some of the fabric bags too, in the photos.  I was trying to finish taking the photos before naptime was over  Cheesy

Thank you so much sloth003, for everything.  We love it all, and it was so fun getting to chat with you Smiley

Juliet received on Friday and we finally had a chance to take pictures today!

Ariel spoiled her and her sister Smiley

She sent gorgeous ruffled shirts for them both, and a washcloth toy for Coraline.

Some craft supplies: pencils, coloured pencils, pencil sharpener, and scissors.

A little book which is so cleverly put together with an elastic and a stick!  I shall have to steal borrow this idea for the sketchbooks I make  Grin

A beautiful coloured fairy picture, a bead & charm bracelet, a jar decorated like a dog (so cute!), a paper bird which is just amazing, and a jacob's ladder which we are so impressed Ariel made!

And an American flag too!

Thank you so much Ariel, from Juliet, Coraline, and myself!

The loot:
