1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / help me make KOZO! on: November 16, 2006 07:24:47 PM
my husband is being deployed to Iraq in January ( Embarrassed ) so I want to make him something he can take that will make him smile when he sees it. one thing I know he loves is....

kozo!

he's this adorable dancing hippo, and my husband could watch this video over and over. I have to admit, it's pretty hilarious!

here's a link, if you've never seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSmegm4Gn4s

I've been looking for a hippo amigurumi, but can't find one with quite the right shape. and I'd like to have one with an open mouth. plus I need to make the, um- thong, I guess?  Roll Eyes anyway, help would be greatly appreciated!
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / crochet confusion on: October 17, 2006 10:24:59 AM
I'm trying to make my first amigurumi, and I'm having some problems with the pattern  Undecided .

Here's what it says:

HEAD/BODY: Beg at center top of Head, with gray, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do NOT join but cont. to work in a spiral, marking beg of each rnd and moving marker as work progresses.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc, around. ( 12 sc ).
Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 18 sc ).
Rnd 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 24 sc ).
Rnd 5: Sc in each sc around.

Ok, so I'm good up until Rnd 3. It's the little * that I don't understand, does that mean to place a marker there and work (this number) of sc from it? and I can't tell if it means to work 1 sc in each sc from the *, or 2 sc in each?

I'm so glad I found craftster, because I know that some wiser and probably gorgeous wonderful hooker will be able to help me figure this out!  Wink
