6  Patchwork Messenger Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gm4style on: April 02, 2007 08:15:56 PM
I made this bag a little while ago. It was a gift for my mother. The fabrics range from denim to Asian brocade. The entire bag is quilted -even the velveteen front! The back mimics the front medallion design and functions as a back pocket which closes with a covered button. The front closes with a parachute clip and the inside has 2 welt pockets. The strap is channel stitched in variegated thread and is adjustable with a slide. Comments welcome!!!

7  Bubblegum Bag in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by gm4style on: March 13, 2007 06:28:16 PM
First off I want to apologize for the horrible pics.
This bag was created for a friend's charity auction. The fabric is a cotton stripe. It has an adjustable shoulder strap, zippered top and matching detachable lanyard. The bottom is box mitered for dimension. There is a clear vinyl pocket in the front big enough for a picture from a fashion magazine! The inside is lined with a pre-quilted cotton polka dot. There is a black mesh pocket with a zipper. The pattern is my own design. Enjoy!!

8  Sparkle!! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by gm4style on: October 02, 2006 08:05:02 AM
At my day job, we sell pressure sensitve adhesive vinly for sign making. They send up a ton of new samples every quarter or so. The colorful bits of the jacket are the sample chips they put the new color swatches on. They are about 2 inches wide and I ended up cutting them into 1/2" wide strips then sewed them on individualy with a zig zag stitch - row after row after row..... The sleeve is my own design- there is a shaped slit on the inseam that allows the wearer to move her hands without disrupting the shape of the sleeve. The dress is a simple strapless cut-and-sew jersey with a lettuce edge at the hem and a 3 foot long train. Sadly, no detail shots of this dress exist.

9  Alot of draping! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by gm4style on: October 02, 2006 07:53:59 AM
Years ago I bought TONS of this gun metal gray taffetta. I held on to it until I couldn't stand it anymore. I wanted to create a dress with visual punch, but only using one color. I used a mock Fortuny pleating technique to wrinkle and distress the short base of the dress and then busted out my draping techniques to complete the drapes and train. The model liked the dress so much I gave it to her as payment for the photoshoot!

10  Menswear Suiting in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by gm4style on: September 30, 2006 02:43:29 AM
This is another portfolio piece. The jacket and pants have been patchworked from menswear suitings collected over the years. The jacket is based on an origami concept in that there are only 3 pattern pieces and they fold in such a way to form the shape of the sleeves. The pants have an attached apron with welt pockets and the shirt is a recovered Brooks Brothers button-down I got at the thrift store - I redraped it and reconstructed it into a wrap top.

Constructive critiques and comments are welcome!
