It's not the prettiest of carpentry there's ever been built but by golly I did it!  It didn't take me very long and I did it this morning.  Soap making will happen tomorrow morning once the kids are in school!  I can't wait!  I hope that it's not too long and I'm interested to see if it's deep enough.  But it's probably the first wood project I've completed since I was thrown out of my woodworking class by Mr Wheeler.(I was 14....I'm now 40  )

It's still sitting on the side in my kitchen and I keep looking at it with pride!!  Yay me! 

I just recently bought 100 (now 99!) brooch backs and decided to make a brooch with a snowflake on since I work at Bronners (the largest Christmas store in the world!)  I put peoples names and dates and whatever on ornaments and I must say, as jobs go, it's pretty damn good!
Well, Leah falls down to earth when the only person that comments is the one chick with Aspergers who can't help herself and she says 'Whoa, what a huge pin!  Could it get any bigger?'!!    Ummmm, thanks.....

Im making soap for a friend of mine and I'm really a newb when it comes to this!  She asked me a question about whether or not the soap would be tearless since she wants to use it on her children.   

It's going to be a very mild fragrance free soap so I don't know what to tell her!! (short of putting the soap in my own eyes!!)

Any hints for this newb?

Uurrgghh.....I received a boat load of cross stitch charts from a lovely lady on freecycle! One of them was of mini people with different heads and bodies, colored hair....lots of options.  Very similar to minipops http://www.flipflopflyin.com/minipops/

It's driving me insane because I cannot find that chart!!!  I'm trying to finish up a swap gift and I don't know what the hell I did with this!!    (and I'm hoping my swap partner is not reading this because I'm trying to keep this from her!!)

I've searched under many different criteria but I can't seem to find something similar!!  I know that as soon as I buy something similar I'll find my orginial one but I really would like to find this!!

Any suggestions?

I think it looks better from far away!!  I used dark grey fleece and black thread.  I also used a bit of my printed ribbon to put on the front. I did one and wasn't happy so this is try number 3.  The fleece feels a bit soft.....I would have preferred grey felt but I don't know where to find it.  Army blankets would be superb but I don't have a lead.

I just finished this last night.  My last foray into waste canvas until I go to the craft store!!

I soooo want to send this to a friend of mine in England.  She's such a lovely person but always looks like someone has just swiped her ice-cream!  Or I'd like to use this tote while I shop at the grocery store and let a particularly grumpy cashier admire and maybe she'd crack a smile!

But, this is my second attempt at using waste canvas and I've noticed that I will have to wash this finished piece as there seems to be some sort of water mark.  Anyone else experience this?

I absolutely LOVE stitching on linen and would love to try my hand at stitching on darker shades of it.

It's a bitch to find though!!

Does anyone have a good source that I can try?

I've always chuckled at all the naughty swear words and sayings that I've seen in cross stitch and I managed to finish some words of my own tonight. (sheesh, I'm on a roll!!!)  I still have to embelish and finish it off so I guess you could say it's not finished but I was excited about finishing the wording and would like ideas about how I could possibly finish it off...

I'm thinking metallic swirls but I'm really open to any suggestions.....

I actually finished something and have hung it up in my own home! (after years of giving gifts that I've stitched I now have a grand total of 2 finished pieces in my house!!  Yay, go me!)

After looking at Brook Owens fifties lady this feels somewhat mundane and staid!! (love that embroidery!!!)

But, hey ho, here it is!!



I painted the frame myself and I used 32 count linen which made me eyes go buggy sometimes.....espec ially at night!!
