1  hats! hearts patterns, and my version of the urchin in Knitting: Completed Projects by devguitarchick on: February 28, 2007 09:51:13 PM
I got busy with hat making lately. I finished the boyfriend sweater and had too much time on my hands. so I finally got around to making the sea urchin hat that topstitch girl made and designed! the only difference is I used my favorite yarn EVER debbie bliss cashmerino chunky instead of two strands held together. seriously this year is PERFECT for hats, cuase sometime hats make my forehead itch. this yarn is sooo soft i forgot I was wearing it! and it is light enough to wear inside and not get too warm.

here's a bad pic of me wearing it.

heres my cutie cute cute roomate rachel wearing it!

here is a heart pattern I subsitituted for the circle pattern on the center square hat on this issues of knitty. i really like this. I added another repeat of the pattern, becuase I have a huge head, and becuase I used 10.5's instead of 11's. It's a tiny bit snug on me, becuase I never know how much slack to give yarn in colorwork, especially in between double pointed needles.  I used cascade 220. nice plain wool!

here is my other roomie lindsay modeling...

2  successful boyfriend sweater! no break up! in Knitting: Completed Projects by devguitarchick on: February 18, 2007 10:55:28 PM
this is my first post, I look at this page everyday, but am no darn lazy to post my own stuff, just comments. well, I've been thinking about making this sweater forever, and started it a week before christmas like and big dork, becuase I asked my boyfriend what he really wanted and he said " well, I'd really like that sweater that you've been thinking of making....if it's not too late.... " and how could I possibly resist that? a request like that MUST make the boyfriend sweater curse null and void, right? well, apparently it does, even if you end up giving it for valentines day instead of christmas.
it fits and he loves it, and it opened him up to the world of cardigans. yea! so happy, and now every other knitted projects seems to go soooo fast!

its from the book " vintage knits" from the rowan people. I did it in elizabeth lavold " silky tweed" or something like that. the rowan tweed isn't made anymore, and it was ridicoulously expensive anyway. beautiful sweaters in the whole book, but the directions were really vague and left a bit too much guess work for someone like me that's never knit a sweater.

so here it is on the boyfriend himself!
