3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Baby quilt, hard colors? on: October 16, 2006 03:28:59 PM
That really is fantastic. Most of my kids quilts are boring pastel colors. In fact that's pretty much all you can find handmade baby quilts in. My favorite one is all 40's reproduction fabric in blue and rust that someone special made my eldest before he was born. I'm even hesitant to let my poor son use it because I don't want it worn out! I guarantee you that quilt will become a treasure to the momma.

I'm totally in love with that cabled shirt dress. But sadly I also have to many projects on the pile to undergo such a big one. (Shhhh, I'm hoping one of THOSE stores will make one I can afford)

Holy cow woman, 9lb and 3oz! You are one brave mommy, my biggest was 71/2 and I thought that was a bit much Wink I sure hope for your sake that gorgeous boy wasn't born posterior.
9  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: knitted beaded bracelets on: October 12, 2006 08:50:31 AM
I checked out the website. I really like the bead soup idea. I have a whole bag of teeny tiny beads for  a right angle weave bead soup and it never occurred to me to do a knitted bead soup with them. I think I know my next bead knitted project  Grin I'm always curious how other people do bead knitted jewelery since I don't come across it often. Do you cast on and off with the clasps or sew them on after? If you cast on how stable are your clasps? I sew them in after because I assumed it would be more stable.

You seam the top of the seams to the body and then seam up the sleeves and the body sides at once.

Eventually mine will be done. I think my swatch was off and mine will be a little bigger then I thought But still totally awesome, and not so big that I can't wear it. I'm really excited to get it finished. I have one sleeve done and seamed in and the other sleeve is halfway done. But I started a couple other projects for personal swaps so I had to, sadly,  put it on the back burner for now. But hopefully I'll have it done in a few weeks.
