1  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Decoupage? on: November 02, 2006 05:37:03 PM
Hi, everyone. I am still a newbie here at craftster and I am a newbie to decoupage. I have a comic book and I would like to use a page from it to cover an old switch plate. Any suggestions as to how? I was thinking about using some Decoupage Material and then sealing it with clear acrilyc spray, but would that work? I don't want to cut images out of the comic book, but rather cut a page to fit. Does that make any sense? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Melted Bead Coasters-MY FIRST POST on: October 14, 2006 10:22:49 PM
I saw tiffie1023's post, the melted bead bowl http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=99668.0. I just HAD to try it for myself. I have been a beader for 12 almost 13 years, so everyone here knows how many beads I must have. I went searching through my mounds of beads, but couldn't find the exact ones everyone was using. I found some star and heart shaped pony beads and some recycled red opaque octagonal beads. Here are the results. As you can tell the coaster in the upper right corner didn't melt all the way, so I think I might end up remelting it. I put the beads in muffin tins since it was a trial. What do you think? I ended up putting them in for 40 minutes on one side, then I flipped them over and put them in for 40 minutes on the other. I had the oven at 350 degrees. My boyfriend complained about the smell for the entire last 40 minutes. Men can be such babies. Hopefully I can do some more when he at work or sleeping.
