5  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: sea glass on: April 19, 2007 05:54:35 PM
Lovely, I'm jealous. I used to spend my summers on Cape Cod, but now I live in Texas. How I miss Cape Cod!
I live in Mass and spend time each summer at Cape Cod and I find BARRELS of sea glass.

For Christmas, I just got a ton of plain serving trays and used some plaster of paris and I stuck the pieces on.  They look gorgeous!  I also did it with small gift boxes and made my own coasters (used some cookie cutters to shape)
6  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My Muppet Quilt is FINALLY complete!! (very picture heavy) on: April 19, 2007 05:49:25 PM
How big are the finished squares in the book? I would like to try to make a honkers square as he was always my favorite. I would like to make sure the square will work with the ones in the book.

hi d! thanks for the compliments! the blocks start as 8'x8', and are 7.5'x7.5' when sewn. good luck with the quilt. it's a total blast to make, so i'm sure you'll have alot of fun along the way!

Awesome! Thanks!
7  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Sesame Street/Muppet Show Quilts (In Progress) on: April 19, 2007 05:45:48 PM
Sorry everyone for reposting the images. This was the first time I quoted.

hi d!
to applique, all you do is a very short zig-zag stitch on a medium-wide setting. using a fabric stabilizer on the back will make the process easier too. hope that helps!

Thanks so much! Did you use wonder-under or some other fusible webbing before you zig-zagged it? I went out and bought some fabric for it already.

Great job. I was looking at the fish templates at Jo-Ann's the other day and thinking it would be fun, but I have too many other projects going on right now.
