12  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: 12 Days Of Christmas Swap 2007(ANGELS for gwenyvarr have been found. Thanks! on: December 20, 2007 09:29:42 PM
I am STILL having trouble sleeping all through the night b/c of jet lag so I got up this morning at 5:30 AM and opened my day 6. It's a lovely set all sort of centred around keeping warm and I'm off to post the pics as soon as I'm finished typing this. I'm actually wearing the hat right now!

Even better, despite the horrible winter storms out east the 2nd package arrived here today in perfect time to start being opened tomorrow. To be honest I was a little excited thinking about what would happen if it was late. That way I could stretch out this swap even longer.  Grin I love looking at all the new boxes.

Funny story: a few days ago I was watering our Christmas tree. The water runs through some clear tubing, like surgical tubing, and ends up in the base of the stand. Well for some reason both of our cats ADORE drinking the water from the tree stand. The pine must give it a certain piquante-ness. So they've both gathered around hovering as I water the tree, and one gets obsessed with watching the bubbles as they travel through the tube. He starts to bat at it and wouldn't you know it, HE PULLS THE TUBE OUT OF THE STAND. Water's pouring everywhere, I'm freaking out because of the presents, no one else knows what I'm yelling about and the cats are starting to circle because - yay! - there's an unlimited supply of tree water! They hit the well! All this is a very long and convoluted way to say that all the presents got moved around while we mopped up the mess.
Yesterday my little brother came to me with a sheepish look. "We were putting the presents back and we found one with no tag," he said. "I think it might be yours." (He's 18 and a real arse but he can be so little-boy sweet sometimes.) So they set it aside.
I completely forgot about this, and when I came down this morning I noticed that the day 6 package had been set aside. How sweet!, I thought.

Until they panicked trying to find it again.

That's a great idea! Except I would have to get a world map for Canada and Australia and Hawaii and the lower 48 . . . Hmmm. Then I will also have huge gaps in my map. Now I need to find crafters in China and India and Africa . . .

Are there any days you can't wait to get to because of how much you like the crafts you made? I can't wait for days 9 and 2! Grin

I feel so bad at how far behind I've fallen in keeping up with you guys! Jet lag has hit me HARD and I keep going to sleep at 6 PM or something ridiculous like that. I'm off to post in the gallery, but this is what the lovely TAOJ has sent (and NO, you did not send too little! I love it!):

12 handmade/stamped gift tags
11 Christmas cards
For day 10, a ton of embroidery/cross-stitch supplies. If you want more info come check out the gallery!

I'm pooped as I've been up for 16 hrs straight now, despite the fact that it's only 7:30 in my time zone. I opened my package from TAOj and it was lovely set of gift tags. I will have the photo up as well as 11's tomorrow, but I need sleeeeeeep.

Oh my goodness, it IS tomorrow! I know it sounds odd but . . . I'd forgotten. I'm flying back home tomorrow and that's all I'd been thinking about.

shall we work out who gets to open earliest?   In honour of Kish, working on the difference to PST - I will get to open mine 8 hours early - any improvers??

you all suck! I am probably going to be the LAST to open day 12's package, unless there is someone opening in Hawaii, but I think California is the farthest.

*your lovely organizer is crying*  Cry Cry Cry

I'm opening in BC, so we're in the same time zone. All my crafts were MADE in Ontario though, so does that mean I get to open according to EST? Wink

I just spent a fantastic day with one of my best friends, knitting and watching movies all day long (eXistenz is amazing! How did it take me so long to see it?!?!?). I put off working on my essay and we cooked and baked, and I finished a kitty earflap hat for my other best friend's Christmas present. Oh, and we exchanged Christmas presents - I knit him a Doctor Who scarf and he gave me a Doctor Who poster! We are SUCH nerds, but I love it, and we went out the post office after dinner and posted TAOJ's last two packages. It was basically a perfect day, and what a way to end this swap.

Wait, now I GET stuff too? Best swap ever!

Duckie - geez talk about a work load.

Technically, I don't have to knit it all in a week. The problem is that I'm flying back home on the 14th, so all the presents for my relatives out here have to be done by then. I'm pretty sure I'm going to ditch the scarf on US4s and do one on US15s instead - my aunt will like it just the same, I'll bust stash and actually get'r done.
