[Rubick's cube cake]

I threw an 80's party a few years ago... we had a blast!  We made a Rubick's cube cake that was a big hit.  We just made a box cake in square cake pans (I think it was 3 layers) and used food coloring in vanilla frosting to make different colors and then lined the squares with black decorating gel.  Have a GREAT time!!   

I found a great project that I am going to do for Christmas gifts... "embroidered" notecards/greeting cards using the buttons as artwork.  ie: Snowmen (3 white buttons, face sewed on with colored thread), Balloons (colored buttons with strings sewn on), Baby Rattle, Christmas Tree Ornaments... The list goes on and on.  You could do all sorts of things.  I am going to glue the buttons and sew on the detail with thread to colorful paper and glue that to white cardstock (that way the messy backside won't show) and finish with a ribbon accent.  I am going to give away sets of blank notecards as gifts.
