1  Should I keep my prom dress? Help me out guys! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kathie32490 on: April 22, 2008 02:38:37 PM
Helllllllo craftsters!

I decided to make my senior prom dress this year, because there are just too many tacky and overpriced dresses out there.

I decided to go with a Grecian-inspired dress, using this silky gold/sand colored jersey that I bought at an estate sale a few years back. I made it in a couple of hours, (the draping took up most of the time) but I'm not sure whether I should keep this dress, or succumb to the endless onslaught of mainstream prom attire and purchase a dress. Although I'm relatively pleased with it, what do you oh-so-knowledgeable craftsters think?

I really appreciate any input from you guys Smiley
Thanks so much for looking!

2  Prom 2008 - Help with this skirt please? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by kathie32490 on: March 19, 2008 08:02:41 PM
Hello fellow craftsters! I have a question for all of you brilliant people.
I am taking it upon myself to make my prom dress this year, as there are too many gaudy, overpriced, and simply hideous dresses out there. I've already made a test dress, just to make sure about fit and overall design. However, I ran into difficulty when I came to the skirt part of the dress.

I want the skirt to look like the one pictured above, except slightly more tapered like in the drawing.

I can't figure out how to get the fabric to drape around the legs, and how I would go about lining it. If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Thank you so much guys!  Smiley

3  My new ecru tent mini-dress! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by kathie32490 on: June 15, 2007 01:58:54 PM
Hello all! I've always loved logging on to craftster and reading up on all the wonderful things that you guys make, but this is my first official clothing post  Shocked

Anyway, I made this dress out of a lack of any new or interesting summer clothing. It has 4 inset pleats down the front, making the dress rather voluminous. The fabric is also rather stiff, so the dress holds its shape. The sleeves are just simple puff sleeves with narrow cuffs at the end.

I don't know if it's visible from the photos, but the front of the dress puckers slightly near the neckline. I think this is because the front piece of the dress is slightly wider than the back piece. I've tried to find a way to fix this without having to take the entire dress apart and re-sew it, but I haven't been able to figure anything out yet. Any suggestions?

aaaaaaaaaaand worn with one of my mother's old belts from back in the day (lest I appear pregnant)

I personally prefer the dress with the belt, but it feels a little too dressy for day-to-day wear.

Thank you for looking! Any comments/criticism would be greatly appreciated!  Grin

Hello all! This is my first post on craftser  Shocked

I've been planning to make this for awhile, but I finally got around to it this past Memorial Day weekend.

My dad modeled it for me  Grin
The front mouth part is a pocket, too.

Any comments/criticisms would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for looking!
