41  One of Marjorie's baby dragons in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by julietalpha on: May 13, 2007 11:59:20 PM
When I first saw Marjoriecrochets' baby dragon I just had to make one - they are so cute!  You can find the pattern under the heading Dragons Rule!  in this forum.  I have finally finished it.  It was a little fiddly and I'm not a fan of all that sewing but it is definitely worth it!  I made it for a friend who is going overseas so she can take photos of it in random exotic locations.

Thanks for the pattern, Marjorie!

42  It's not actually a bib but it looks like one... in Knitting: Completed Projects by julietalpha on: May 06, 2007 08:48:13 PM
My friend is getting married in June and in an attempt to keep the chill at bay I knitted myself a shawl.  I used big needles because I'm a slow knitter and kept it simple.  I just made it up as I went along and while I like it, I wish I had checked out some patterns first.  To give it some extra length I crocheted a border on it.

Here it is with the skirt that I will wear.  It actually goes rather nicely but my camera has done funny things to the colours.  The dark pink isn't quite so dark and the light pink in between isn't quite so dark.

Here it is laid out flat.  The first thing I thought of when I saw it like this was a bib but hopefully I won't make a mess on the day!

Now I've just got to decide how to wear it...

43  Chironex Fleckeri in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by julietalpha on: February 06, 2007 05:15:38 PM
One of my close friends is moving to Cairns, which is a long way from Newcastle  (Cry) so I thought I'd make her something to help her get aquainted with the locals.

I'm really proud of my new box jellyfish because it's the first project I've made up myself.  (I was inspired by the other crocheted jellyfish on the Forum but thought I needed a slightly different shaped bell).  You can't see it in the picture but the yarn has flecks of pastel colours in it and a pearlescent thread running through it.

I hope she likes it!

44  Tropical Fiesta Tea Set in Knitting: Completed Projects by julietalpha on: February 05, 2007 05:20:49 PM
It was my boyfriend's niece's first birthday and I wanted to make her something.  He mentioned "thrown across the room" and "straight in her mouth" so I decided to make this:

I figured it won't break stuff, can't really be broken and can be washed.  I just hope the dog doesn't get at it...

46  Hot Pink Piggy! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by julietalpha on: November 21, 2006 07:01:49 PM
I'm usually more of a knitter but I'd like to get into crochet and here is my first crocheted toy!

Isn't he cute?

I got the free pattern here: http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27147]http://www.crochetville.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27147[/url]. He's crocheted out of nylon with a 2.5mm hook and stuffed with a plastic bag.  He doesn't have a name yet though...  Any ideas?

47  Music gift box in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by julietalpha on: November 04, 2006 08:27:31 PM
I'm guessing this is the right place to put this...
My friend Siubhan is very musical and plays piano.  I figured with an unusual name like hers she wouldn't get much in the way of personalised things so I decided to make her a box for her birthday.  I got a papier mache box from Spotlight and painted it like a piano.  I lined it with red velvet (I was going to use felt but had the velvet handy.  I realised felt would have been easier - I had little red fluff everywhere!) and trimmed the top with black ribbon for a neater finish.  On top I used flat glass marbles (I got that idea from Craftster!) to emphasise her name and but out a treble clef and musical note from white paper.  I hope she likes it!

48  long skirt, short cardi and jewellery in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by julietalpha on: September 25, 2006 09:22:42 PM
My first post - here goes!

Many years ago I was given a stack of beads.  Recently I was going through the tin and found two lots of teal beads which matched so I decided to make this set using black beading wire and a wrapped wire technique:

I took the jewellery to the fabric shop so I could make a matching skirt and ended up with a floor length half circle wrap around.  I'd made a couple before but this was so long I had to do it in panels rather than cut out the half circle in one hit.

So for a long time I wandered around with a scrap of the skirt fabric in my wallet trying to find a matching top.  I ended up getting this fabric.  It's a light black knit with sequins and print.  My scrap is there too.

I traced a top of mine to get a pattern for a cropped cardigan which ties in the front.  It's not that clear because it's on a black singlet top but you get the gist.

And here is the complete outfit.

As I say, this is my first post so I hope the links come out ok!
