61  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / double diamond edging (please help!) on: February 17, 2007 05:41:17 PM
i work at a sewing store and a nice lady brought me in this pattern for double diamond edging.  can somebody please explain to me what to do?  i can knit and i can pearl.  i know how to knit two together and pearl two together.  i am not familiar with some more 'advanced' things.  well here is the pattern:

worked lengthwise over 9 sts.
note: sts should only be counted after the 1st of 12th rows.

1st and every alt row (right side): knit
2nd row: k3, k2tog, yf, k2tog, (yf,k1] twice
4th row: K2, (k2tog, yf) twice, k3, yf, k1
6th row: K1, (k2tog, yf) twice, k5, yf, k1
8th row: K3, (yf, k2tog) twice, k1, k2tog, yf, k2tog
10th row: k4, yf, k2tog, yf, k3tog, yf, k2tog
12th row: K5, yf, k3tog, yf, k2tog
Rep these 12 rows.

I have no idea what 'yf' means or what worked lengthwise over nine stitches is.

please help?!
62  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / bird feeder filler on: December 11, 2006 03:53:17 PM
i work at a supermarket and when i clean out the bread shelves i save all the poppy/sesame seeds to put in a bird feeder outside my window.

i also get some of them from the kitchen when they are baking bread.  then ones that fall into the oven cant be used for bread so i take them too.

im sure if you go into the market you could sneak some out.   Lips sealed

64  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / hiding places! on: November 22, 2006 06:18:56 PM
im not sure if this is the right place to post this but anway:

i read this book called 'secret hiding places' a long time ago when i was a little girl.  it was about how you could craft little nooks into pieces of furniture such as compartments in fence posts and such.  does anybody have any idea how to do that (not just for fences, but for anything)?
indoor too!

not that i have anything to hide!  i just remember thinking it was such a fun idea.   Cool
