11  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / tips on sewing doll clothes? on: September 12, 2007 06:00:12 PM
i am doing a school project of very detailed doll clothes.  are there any tips for sewing something so small?
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / ART OR CRAFT: WHERE DO YOU DRAW THE LINE BETWEEN ART AND CRAFT? WHAT IS ART...? on: September 12, 2007 05:58:32 PM
i took a found object art course and the primary focus of the class was (besides making art) discussing what makes something art.

so here we go....opinion....WHAT MAKES SOMETHING ART, AS OPPOSED TO JUST A CRAFT?

my personal opinion, which can be swayed:  Art is something that involves skill, composition, and preplanning.  Oftentimes they are innovative too.  It can take any form, as long as it meets this criteria.  Things that are just cool aren't art, which doesn't make them any less.  Personally, I think that art isn't the overall goal of making something, just one category that an object can fit into.  CRAFT is equal to ART, different, but equal

discussion...?  debate...?

16  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Whimsical Plum Bedroom (not for the faint of bandwidth) on: September 11, 2007 05:34:37 PM
Finally got it clean enough to take some (lots of) pictures.  All furniture for the most part was bought at the NOVA thriftstore near my house and refinished by me.  I am not much for photographing rooms, but i guess i will just post a bunch and hope you can get the gist of the room:

Closet curtains made by me, fabric from ikea.  Bookcase from Target.  Chair= from our former family living room.  Desk, painted by me from thrift.

LACK shelving from ikea.  bed area!

old pix on wall

trinkets

dresser (finished by me)

egress window (im in the basement)

WAHOO....feedback?

18  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / bathroom decorating ideas needed! on: August 15, 2007 09:19:18 AM
my bathroom has linoleum floors that look very much like wood.
the toilet/sink/shower are all white.
the walls are painted a sage green.

i have one blank wall that can have anything put on it (painting/mural/mosaic/ANYTHING!).  i also could suspend something from the ceiling if you could come up with a good idea?

things i like are nature (flowers, birds, antlers, etc.)  i'm open to anything though, like don't be limited by that.

does anybody have any cool ideas for either:
-cute linens
-wall decoration
-general bathroom decoration
-a cool technique i could use?
-just any cool craft that could possibly go in my bathroom?
