okay, so i made this for my boyfriend when i moved away to college. we now live 4 hours apart and it sucks...so i made this for him. it's a "survival kit" containing everything he needs for when i'm gone.

sorry for so many pics, but i just can't leave anything out

box:

contents (general):

a photo album, so he can always be reminded of how happy and silly we are together:

a box of hugs and kisses, so he can have some when i can't give them:

the little book of i love you...i didnt make this obviously, but i thought it would be cute to include:

stationary, so he'll never have an excuse not to write to me! Smiley:

a bear (aka. cuddle buddy), so he can have something to hold when he misses me:

tissues, so he can have something to dry his tears when things just get too hard (i wont put a pic of this, since you all know what tissues look like lol)

an extra heart for when his gets lonely:

an envelope of money, containing enough to pay for gas to and from me and enough for snacks...so if he ever just misses me too much, he doesnt have to worry about spending so much just to see me:

2 mix cds containing music that i like, but that he doesnt really care for...just because i know he thinks it's hilarious when i sing at the top of my lungs to some song he thinks is dumb. haha. there are a few that he likes too though.

a love letter, so he never can forget the way i feel about him and how much he means to me:

okay i think that's it...sorry again for all the pics...this is a really great gift though for someone in a long distance relationship, and it could easily be altered to have a more valentines-y theme

here's a random card i made a long time ago.... the front is sooo boring (i'm realyl dissapointed that i made something so plain!) but i LOVE the inside

"i love you thissss much!"

and the "thisss" is like 3D or whatever. when you open it, it lifts up from the page

here is a gift i made for my boyfriend...i think it was just another "just because" gift...but it may have been for something else. i can't remember. lol

box

what you see when you first open box:

pull open cover...and you see this!

the letters on the pictures/pages read "you + me = the most PERFECT couple ever!

and the little thing to the far right, at the "base" of the pull out thing...the page opens up for a personal message

i actually just did this as a random gift "just because" but it's definitely valentines worthy.

okay i know the picture sucks....the coloring is so much different in person (deep red felt with contrasting black stitching all the way around" but i made a plush puzzle out of felt. there is one big piece that i stitched "you" onto, and the rest are just little indistinct pieces that take forever to piece together (mwhaha)

oh and here's the poem i wrote that i put in the box
"this box contains a little gift
you've never had one like it
i'm really bad at rhyming
so just bare with me for a bit

inside there is a puzzle
made especially for you
the pieces are slightly indistinct
so be careful with what you do

the shape made by this puzzle
is very precious to me
it's the thing that keeps me breathing
and living happily

your role in this gift is crucial
in fact, the most important piece
you will find that, without YOU
I just would not be complete"

i know it's a cheesy poem, and i really suck at writing stuf flike that, but it went over GREAT with the boyfriend. so if anyone wants to use it, feel free to.

[note: the box that the puzzle is in was another random box from a different gift and we just figured out this weekend that the puzzle randomly fits perfectly into the box! weird!
16  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / idea for v-day presents from me to u....post #1 (image heavy) on: February 05, 2007 10:24:06 PM
So, this past weekend i went home and demanded that my boyfriend get out everything i've ever made for him, so i could take pictures, so i could post of crafster. lol.

so here's the first....this idea is in no way original to me, but it was of my own design.

it's a book made from pictures....

cover:

inside (front): the bottom page reads "follow the hearts.."

i'm not gonna post all the inside pages...but i made hearts that spell out "i love you with all my heart" and took the hearts to places that meant something to us...or to him, and took pics.
here's just one page...

then inside (back): the top is lyrics from a ben kweller song and the part that says happy valentines day opens up to display a more personal message.

hope everyone likes it...
17  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / dim lighting...without candles? on: January 28, 2007 08:22:49 PM
okay, so i live in a dorm, and candles are a big NO. and well, for v-day, i was going to create a cute little romantic setting in here for my boyfriend and i and i want there to be dim lighting like candles would provide. is there any other alternative? particularly one that is not very costly?
18  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / futons + low budget do NOT mix...So I need some help on: January 27, 2007 02:54:01 PM
My roommate and I have a VERY small dorm room, so there isnt room for seating. Well the other day, we bunked our beds....so now we have this huge expanse of space for all sorts of seating possibilities. WELL, i thought "hey, we could get a futon, so our friends don't have to sleep on the floor when they stay over" so i started searching for futons and found out that they are stupidly expesive.

so, i'm wondering if there was a way i could MAKE my own futon without it looking like crap.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Or just making a couch or anything. There was a pretty cool couch in readymade's last issue...but it was a bit pricey to make. I could maybe improvise a few things but I just wondered if anyone had any better ideas. prferrably futon related.
19  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Any ideas for decorating "Our First Christmas" ornament? on: November 14, 2006 11:09:12 AM
okay...so i'm making an ornament for my boyfriend and me for "our first christmas" and i found this really cool plain clear glass one that opens up (as you can see below)...but i don't know how to decorate it!! painting is pretty much out of the question because i'm TERRIBLE at it. also...my mom said i should etch the glass. but i have no clue how to do that...and i'm pretty low on cash.

any ideas would be sooo greatly appreciated!

here's what the ornament looks like.
