11  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Etsy PIF? on: October 31, 2006 10:03:39 PM
I've done both trades and PIFs and have had good experiences with both. I know of plenty that have had bad experiences though...like getting negative feedback from a PIF.

I plan to continue...

Jackie

Goodness, why would someone do that?

I honestly don't see the problem. If I signed on for a swap like that, I wouldn't expect anything in return, and I wouldn't be disappointed if I never got picked. Maybe I just misunderstood what the unconditional swaps were when I looked at them.

I thought I would feel that way about swapping, but you really are supposed to get something in return.

I guess.

I'm in an LJ community for Birthday packages where you just pick whoever you want out of a list and send stuff. You're not required to send in order to receive but it's nice and people often do it. I send out stuff all the time, and I've received a little too, but I was happy doing it way before I got anything.

I understand why the rule change, and it's probably necessary, but I don't entirely agree with it. Yet Wink

I like to PIF and trade.

I plan to offer one PIF a month of something from my shop. I just sent out my second. Smiley

I know a lot of people will miss the unconditional swaps, but they got to be too one-sided. People were sending out three times, but no one picked them to send to.

There are a lot of swaps out there for people who would like a quick swap - The "One Tiny Thing" swaps and the ongoing swaps are good examples.

That's rather unfortunate, but isn't that the risk you take when you sign on to craft for a swap of that nature? Hence "Unconditional"?

I don't know about pricing, but as long as you have a great description and photos of the band, I don't see how they can be disappointed.

BTW, those are cute Smiley

ok.. I'm stuck on a lerger item.. no ideas.. hmm might have to watch HP again for inspiration Smiley

I just used that as an excuse to get my husband to have a HP marathon with me tonight, but it will still help too.

I'm lost as to what to give you for ideas. I'm way too easy to please :p

I started with some small items and am working my way up  Shocked

I thought I was, but I picked the wrong material for speedy crafting and stubbornly forced it to work for what I wanted, hehe.

I'm so thrilled, I finished my first item! I guess it would be considered large for the amount of time I put into it today (all freaking day, lol!) but I REALLY wanted to make it and refused to let it beat me. So it will be a "medium" item :p

20  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / Re: How do I display this? on: October 28, 2006 08:02:09 PM
Im afraid people would comment on it, like its stolen.

Do you have your own cart? If so, jazz it up or paint your logo on it so it's easily identifiable as yours.

If you're borrowing one, hang on a sign on it saying "Our model was generously donated by "...."
