291  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Fun for cats and dogs on: September 15, 2007 05:43:41 PM
My sewing machine is finally set up in our new house (its been packed up since January).  Plus, we got a new puppy about 2 weeks ago, so I decided to break in my sewing room with some cool dog stuff.  Nothing too original, but I made her some bandannas that attach to the collar (rather than tie - that was too simple for breaking in a sewing room  Cheesy)

Here is the basic bandanna (in festive Halloween fabric):

Here is Zoe modeling the slightly more seasonally appropriate football bandanna:

And least the cat feel left out, she got some halloween mice made with scraps, and stuffed with scrap fabric and dried catnip from our garden:

Thats great!  I have been looking at soft e-collars for Zoe's upcoming spay, and thinking I could make my own.  And you proved it was possible!  I will definitely be trying one of my own soon.

I love it!

I bought this pattern well over a year ago, with plans to send it my neice kitty for Christmas.  Then I got intimidated by the foam (both sewing it and the price!).  So its sat in my pattern box for awhile.  You may have motivated me  Grin

That is beautiful!  Glad he liked it so much Smiley

But I really just had to comment because I grew up in Oak Ridge, TN and got great amusement from your awsome fun with government surplus Smiley

wow!  This is so awsome!  I am in awe of your skills.  I only join recently (obviously) and haven't posted much, but I just wanted to tell you how cool that is.  I might have to learn to quilt if/when you sell the pattern Wink
296  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: 10 yr old boy diagnosed with lymphoma on: September 21, 2006 07:15:16 AM
Interested in practical?  A fleece hat, especially with winter coming up.  Your head gets so cold without hair!  I did chemo for hodgkin's lymphoma and lived in my fleece hat while I was at home, even in August.  Ever since then, I've made a fleece hat for every person I know (or friend of friend).   With all the fun options in fleece, you can really personalize it.  I don't have the specific pattern number I use in front of me right now, but find one (or make one up) that has all (or most) the seams at the crown, trim all the seams, no pom-pom, etc.  The idea being to be as comfortable as possible b/c he will do a lot of sleeping and your head gets extra sensitive when you are losing hair.
